question about 4G rims

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/...1172006263.jpg

I love those rims on that TL. I was just wondering why a lot of people who post pictures of there 4G TL's on here rarely have those rims. Are those more expensive? Thanks guys.

I think they are 19'' HPT so it could explain why it's rarer.

The wheels and tyres are very expensive as an accessory item, and they add a decent amount even if they're purchased as an HPT item on the initial sale.

Two other issues:
  1. A lot of us aren't going to want to pay for 19" tyres as replacements down the road;
  2. A lot of us just aren't going to want high performance summer tyres, because we live in areas with winter weather.
When you add to that the fact that the 18" wheels that are standard on the SH-AWD are probably the best looking Honda wheels in history, there's not a lot of incentive to pay for the bigger tyres and wheels.

At least, that's what this old man thinks. :-)

I like the looks as well, and got them with the HPT option on my 2010 AWD. That option adds an additional $1000 to MSRP. I also have the 18" and have snow tire mounted on them, as I couldn't run the HPTs in the winter.

I'm such an ass....

When i bought my 4G, i said i didnt want the HPTs for $1000 more..... Because on both the 3G TL's, the HPT option, was literally just that... High Performance tires... it didnt include 19" Wheels

After i realized this, the dealer told me you cant "ADD" that option for $1000... its a Trim Level of the car... and it was hard enough to find my 4G SHAWD WDP/TECH at the time.. i didnt want to wait any longer

they offered me a CBP SH-AWD HPT, but i declined.. i had bad luck with "Blackuras"

I also like them but I wasn't willing to upgrade to an SH w/HPT just for the wheels.

Doesn't make any sense they make the 4G wider and longer but keep 17'' wheels on it. I think even the base SH 18" look small on it (definitely better looking but still small for the car)

-Acura really needs to step it up on the wheels-

I have those 19" rims, and they look pretty relative to the size of the 4G. My 4G came pre-installed off the truck with 19" HPT (high performance Michelin summers).

As part of my negotiation, I had them swapped out for high performance all seasons; as mentioned above, I have to deal with too much rain/snow/inclement weather practically year round, and didn't want the hassle of swapping out tires.

Funny thing is I assumed I was getting 18" all seasons/stock rims. Little did I know I was keeping the 19" rims. In the end, I paid for it, as the dealer said they had to buy new tires and couldn't lower the cost of the car by $1000 for the swap. I guess it was true

I went ahead and got the HPT option as they really aren't that bad looking of a rim (especially since they are my winters) and it was only a $1000 add which is actually a decent price.

I sold the summers that were on them and put Blizzak LS-25's on the HPT's as my winter rims and I use the 19" Diamonds with Michelin Pilot Sport Plus A/S for my summers.

I live at altitude and get a wide variety of weather here and do not believe in swapping tires on rims 2x per year as a) it is not good for the low profile tires and b) really has the potential to beat up the rims, so I have always had two dedicated sets.

I have done this with all of my vehicles including my wife's MDX Sport.

No, it is how they come from the factory. You would have to work out a deal with the dealership.

You can get them from here with free shipping.
http://oemacuraparts.com/partlocator...layCatalogid=0
You will have to add the TPMS, caps, etc....
When all was said and done I believe it was around $1200? for just the wheels and hardware.

Not that I am aware of. It is my understanding that the 3G (5x114 don't quote me on that) bolt pattern is different than that of the 4G (5x120) so you would at min need an adapter?
