I seen shops around my area charge from $60 up to $100 per wheel.

As for powder coating the wheel matte black or any black for that matter, I don't really like it (HATE it actually). Why? Well because there's no contrast of distinction between the wheels and the tires. Looks like your rolling on some steelies. Just my opinion. but do whatever you like. In the end, it's your car.

Here's a picture of what I mean.

Go to the PC place and check out the colors they offer. Black can go from 0-100% gloss finish; that can help you pick how matte you want to go.

Their are also other, dark, colors that may catch your eye.

Just don't spray paint or plasti dip your wheels. Do them right the first time.

Just as an FYI aluminium wheels should be anodized not power coated. Steel wheels are powder coated but when aluminium wheels are heat treated for the bonding to occur they anneal and it can cause the wheel to get brittle and fail later down the road. It may be hard to find someone who can anodize your wheel but can be a cheaper option too.

How long does plastidip hold up on rims? I would imagine them getting pretty peeled after a while?

I own a Plasti-Dip business (facebook.com/DipOver for those interested) and if you dip a car and it was done correctly then it should last you three years before it has to be touched up. As for wheels depends on your driving, but at least a year if done correctly.
