Need Tire Help/Advice
Hi. I have a 2010 Acura TL FWD with 41,000 miles on it. I took the car to the dealership for a low oil level light and some other under warranty complaints. While it's there I asked them to take a look at the tires to see about balancing. They said they were worn & need replacing. They offered me: Buy 3 get 1 free, alignment & free rotation for life on the OEM Michelins for $957+tax. Is it worth it? Or should I get a completely different type of tire? Please help.

I think you can get better tires for cheaper than that even after alignment. I'm not sure what the Azine consensus is on the Hankook Ventus series but I got a set of 245/40/19s and the total was about 700 shipped.
Depends on what you want though. If you like how it rides with the OEM tires go for it. I upgraded to bigger wheels so I needed new tires either way :P

How do you like those Hankooks?

Check with Costco if you have one in your area. The savings you get on the tires is often worth way more than the $50 membership. Lifetime balance, rotation, flat repair, and all warranty is handled by Costco.

I know its a little more but I went thru Discount Tire just under 1100 for Continental Extreme Contact DWS for the 19", free rotation/balance, TPMS, Replacement certs. Love them (make sure you allow at least 150-200mile break in on them before passing any judgement).
Grip and Noise level are excellent!

I have the same car (2010 fwd) with about the same mileage.
When I bought it last year I got the dealer to install a set of the Michelins Pilot HX 245/50-17. I have no complaints except they are just a little harsh on expansion strips and pot holes etc. They are very quiet and smooth and they look OK. I have read that the tires they install at the factory are not exactly the same as they sell aftermarket, although they look the same and have all the same ID etc. If you are an average driver I think the Michelins are OK. I have had Yokohamas before on a different car and they were horrible. The price you quoted is better than we would get in Canada. Here they are $300 each retail.
I would certainly stick with the stock size. The Goodyear Triple Tred seems to get good reviews if you can get the right size.

I dig em so far. Very grippy whereas my last set of tires(albeit smaller with bigger sidewalls) were pretty prone to slippage even though they still had a good amount of tread on em. They were on when I bought the car...think they were conti's
