Need Opinion On Wheels

Hey all!

Looking for some opinions on wheels. My '09 Tech has the stock 17" rims.

2 of the tires are brand new (they were Michelin warranty replacements) and the other 2 only have about 10,000 miles on them.

I've found a great deal on some rims. There are actually 2 options. They are both 17" so I don't have to incur the expense of new tires...I know, I know, I should be going 18" or 19", but my question is, for a great deal, it is worth it to change out the stock 17" rims for these 17" rims.

or...

yes if u are not gonna go up in size i would still switch to a new rim ... i think the stock fwd tl wheels are hideous. i would recommend doing it if u could get a good deal on them.

although im sure others will also say it, run through these tires then just upgrade to a larger rim size

It all depends on what u want, bigger you lose some comfort but u gain a better look. What color is your car because black rims don't look good on everything.

I think the silver rim looks good. I also think black rims make cars look bad but that's my opinion. I think your car will handle better with a larger rim but new rims and tires gets expensive. If you like the way your car drives now stick with the 17's.

On PMM I lean toward silver rims, although if this were a silve moon TL I would do the dark rims and then black out the grill, rear trunk strip and the badges and as well as the chrome pieces on the front bumper.

Sorry but i've got to lob a vote for no, almost any rim (aftermarket at least) in the stock 17" diamater will look smaller than the OEM 17" rim, this will counteract any intended visual improvement of picking a wheel based on its design independent of its appearance on the vehicle. You must consider the "big picture" if you will.

If you absolutely must stick with 17's, pick up a set of the 2012 17" wheels - they look much improved over the pre-mmc wheels.

If i was you and i was in a bind for money such that i didn't even consider new tires, i wouldn't change anything and just enjoy the car itself. The 18" tech wheels/tires can be found for a reasonable amount and would provide a dramatic improvement visually with little expense and ride quality sacrifice - also an option.

The TL is such a large car that I wouldn't run anything under 19", let alone an aftermarket 17" wheel. In my opinion you will regret a 17" wheel.

Eh-um, tires come and go, wheels will last the life of the car...shop around you can find something lighter 18's than the TSW.

First I think the base TL should have 18s also putting aftermarket wheel smaller than 19s will make the car look cheap I would say save the money on that good deal and look for some 09-11 18s those will look good this is my opinion

maybe on a smaller car but I have to agree with some of the recent posts. In my opinion any aftermarket wheels under 19" most likely wont look right (this is a big car). I just got my 09 and just plan on waiting it out until I can reach for a set of 20".
