Michelin Primacy MXM4 on a TL?

Trying to look ahead for next year when I'll have to replace the GY Eagle RS-A tires on my '12 Advanced TL.

Has anyone tried the Michelin Primacy MXM4s on their TL?

POS tire. Works good on the Mazda MPV mini-van. But you don't drive a mini-van do you?

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus FTW!!!

Aren't people getting treadwear issues with those?

Expect more or less the same performance as the RS-A, which is typical of all touring-grade all-season tires.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

Posted this earlier... So I see this is not an isolated issue.

I had this tire put on my 04 TL last month and over the weekend took it to the dealership to have it aligned and was told this tire was not meant to be on our type of vehicle.

I left the dealer and got on the hwy and the vehicle still pulled. Not too bad but bad enough that one it veers off it goes.

The tech shows/tells me the car is to spec on the align machine, however 'directional' tires should never be on a TL.
He then says I should get the Michelin HXs or the MVM4s. Or, just don't get them rotated, as the tread will wear backwards and not in the original direction and wear them out.

I'm wondering to myself why do so many places offer this tire as an option for the TL if this is the case? Will this cause these tires to wear prematurely? Does this mean I can't rotate them period, or just switch them front to back and not criss cross?

For 800 and some change I'm wondering should I replace them now while I can with the MVM4s as not to waste my $$? They grip so well, it's sick.

This is BS #1.

This is BS #2.

There is absolutely no reason why the Pilot Sport A/S won't work well on the 3G/4G TL's, and also no reason why directional tires should never be used on a TL.

If that dealer/tech was serious he/her doesn't know too much. Sure they will wear 'backwards' if they are installed on the other side of the car. Directional tires can only be changed front to back on the same side unless you want to remove them from the rims and reinstall them on other rims. Can't believe a dealer would tell you that.

I have those tires on my SH now. I do not like them at all. Noisy and ride is bad. My DWS's on my old car were much quieter and smoother.

I'll probably be switching to DWS's soon on it.

The tech did tell me they could only be changed like you say but they will wear quicker and will always have a slight pull. I don't expect any 'pull' after spending a G on tires an and align. Also if they will wear quickly.

tenstrum, We bought a 2013 TL SH-AWD advanced 19x8 rims. I sold the new tires to discount tires, Eagles Rs-A, at 100dollars per and bought Bridgestone Turenza Senerity Plus and went up from 245/40 R 19 to 255/40 R19 on the same stock rims.

The slightly larger tire really smoothed out the ride and noise, no joke. So I can highly recommend the Bridgestone TS Plus if you are after those qualities. I was going to try the Michelin next if those did not work out.

I tried the Continentals Extreme DWS and Michelin Pilot A/S Plus too.

Funny thing I thought I received 85 dollar per from Discount Tire until I looked at the receipt.

I ran the DWS's on my MMR GT1's. Only thing I didn't like about them was the tendancy to flat spot if not driven after a couple of days. Also, for some reason they changed the load ratings from 94 to (I think it was) 98 sometime after I bought them. Maybe that helped to address that problem? The primacy doesn't seem to be intended for cars which can be driven like ours can be.

New Primacy MXM4's

I just replaced the Falken 912's that came with my 07 TL. Only 100 miles on them but the MXM4 feels great with significantly improved performance. They're OK aesthetically, compared with low profile options. One issue...they came in 94W. Acura recommends 93W...not sure if that's a problem.

That 93/94 number is the load index of the tire.

The higher number the load index, the heavier the maximum load the tire can support.

So you are good, as long as that number is the same or higher than the OEM one.

Arent MXM4's the stock tire? Believe mine came with them from the factory...

My 08 Honda Civic Si came with them from the factory, they weren't that highly regarded besides the fact they seems to wear well, as people were anxious to wear them out and replace and it seemed to take longer than expected.

That said our cars are fat pig cruisers so high performance rubber is probably a bit overkill...

The stock tire is a Michelin Pilot HX MXM4, not sure the big differences between that and the Primacy MXM4, but IMO both are boring tires that aren't worth the price compared to other competition. About the only reason you would want these is if you want a good wearing tire.

Being a heavy car makes high quality tires all the more important - 300HP AWD really is nothing to scoff at from a performance standpoint. Anyone running all seasons on a SH-AWD is really missing out, assuming they care anything about performance.

Fat pig cruisers apply only to the FWD Civic Si, but definitely not the AWD TL.

The AWD TL is no ordinary sport sedan.

The advanced torque-vectoring SH-AWD system allows the AWD TL to take corners at even higher speeds than some so called "sports cars".

Only the appropriate high performance tires can unleash the full handling potential of the AWD TL.

I'm using the super sticky Pilot Super Sport (max performance) summer tires in the summer, and my AWD TL can attack corners and curves at some frightening speeds that few others with OEM tires can match, especially more so in the wet.

Better yet, Pilot Sport A/S 3, has 45K mile warranty and is replacement (far improved) for A/S Plus.

Primacy are 'lil ol' lady' tires, but if that's how you drive it, would work fine.

The Si weighs 2800lbs and has a LSD, 305BHP on a car that weight 3800, my Si lightly modified had a better power to weight ratio.

TL is a nice car, don't get me wrong, and if you are driving around like an idiot it's prob better you have good rubber
