Looking for a little advice

I have a Acura TL 2013 SH-AWD advanced package. They have 245/40 -19 tires. I know it is harder to get a smooth ride with 19inch rims. I have tried Cont Extreme DWS 245/40 -19. They were silent however a bit rough on bumps. I was going to switch to a GT tire - Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus however I got talked into trying Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 255/40 R19 (Plus 0 size) to add more height for a smoother ride. I was told that Grand Touring tire and Ultra All season High Performance would yield the same ride. I still dont believe it.

So I am not a fan of the Michelins cause they are far noisier than DWS however they ride did improve a bit. As I expected by increasing the sidewall. I prefer a smooth/Quiet ride more than ultra handling. Should I push for the Bridgestones TurSerePlus or (suggestion).... I need some help and hoping for some good advice. I have the 30 day ride guarantee so I can be a pain for them and switch.

You are chasing something which doesn't exist. The all wheel drive system is stiffer than the front wheel because it has a lot of upgrades in the suspension. Drive a front wheel drive and you will notice a hugh difference.

What make and model are the OEM tires that come with your Acura TL 2013 SH-AWD advanced package ?

I had those crappy Goodyear Eagle RS-A http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...&filterType=oe. We had an snow and ice mix that convinced me that these were below average. I tested my CL on the same mix when I got home. So I sold the tires for 550 dollars and bought the replacement.

Goodyear Eagle RS-A -were 245/40 R 19. Either tire I put on has been vastly superior in all respects over OE (Quieter, smoother and better traction)

That is really what I am after. Has anyone tried either type on their AWD and found the GT tire rode smoother than the Ultra high Performance ALL season. Hence should I take back the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and try the Grand Touring Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus. I am not looking for the ultimate ride characteristics just a marked improvement. The Tech pack TL had 245/45 18 and the ride was firm and yet smooth. So I am just trying to get near that level in TL advanced. Going from 245/40 r 19 to 255/40 R 19 brought the sidewall height 98mm to 102mm (110mm on tech pack), the ride improved. Hence the GT vs Ultra All season question.

The suspension on the AWD TL is factory tuned for performance, and thus will give a much rougher ride than the FWD version.

You may gain a little bit in smoothness with different 19" lower-performance tires and even going down to 18" wheels, but the culprit is in the factory tuned suspension. It's inherited ride roughness (or performance enhancement) will overshadow whatever little gain can be achieved by playing around with different wheels and tires.

So do you think it is worth trying the other tires or not? I guess if the Bridgestone dont improve the ride, I could go back to the Michelins

I don't believe tires will make much of a difference. As others have said, the combo of the sport tuned suspension and 19" wheels has already eliminated much of the comfort of the ride.

Ya since they are finishing up the addons at the dealership today. I am driving the tech package.
At least my idea of a good ride must be far less than others. The same year with 18 inch rims, even with the suspension and awd is a smooth ride (by my defn) - loaner they gave me for the day. So it looks like the 19inch rims are the real problem.

Damn, you get an AWD loaner...nice! My dealership takes care of me but they don't have AWD loaners available. It does make it that much nicer when I get my car back though! Among other things, there's always a noticable difference in exhaust tone.

You should try the Michelin Primacy MXM4.

"...developed for luxury sedan and coupe drivers looking to combine all-weather handling and traction with good noise and ride comfort. "

They are also about $100ea less expensive.

Ya good call Mr Marco, that actually my final choice. Going to try the Bridgestones if not happy thats is my final option. Discount tire is just going to roll their eyes when they see me after this time. They have 30 day ride guarantee going to make good use. Ya in MN, the dealer seems to have only AWD on their TLs. Btw the consumer reports and whatever else is tied into the cost (~20dollars). We found out a fair price and an extra deal.
