Just a quick shock question.

13 AWD
Not looking to modify the suspension height, just looking to improve it over the stock. So I am just wonder has anyone just replaced the stock shock with a KYB, Koni, Tokico, Monroe or Gabrial shock and still obtained a smooth ride/ or even a smoother ride with better cornering. Just looking for any general input on results of other users.

KYB, Koni, Tokico, Monroe or Gabrial shock
Everything you listed, save for the Koni's, are OEM replacements.

that means they are going to be made to OEM specs. and have the same characteristics as OEM.

the Koni's are track focused and has adjustable damping. damping is what helps compression and rebound in your shock stroke.....
please read up on compression, rebound, damping to see if this is something that will help you

both KYB and Monroe have been in the game for longer than I have been alive.
i pretty much equate them as an aftermarket OEM replacement. so, if that's ALL you're looking to do, is replace OEM, it's super fine

I don't think many guys are running the Koni's but they make some great sport focused shocks. I'm pretty sure the Koni's even offer a bit of height adjustability if I'm not mistaken. I think they allow for a 10-15mm drop or something like that.

depends on which koni you get.
the most common koni has 3 perches that are 10mm apart.
the spring or coil sits on this perch, so it's not as easy to adjust as a dedicated coilover....
but still adjustable perse....you would have to dismount the springs to adjust height...and that's a lot of work.

Depends on how much you want to spend and the adjustability of the final result!

Koni shocks with the adjustments may provide a tad bit more comfort at the sacrifice of cornering as it sounds like you want the same ride height, just more comfort. Lifetime warranty on them which is great, but last I checked it was around $800 for shocks only.

Tein SA has close to 30 adjustments for height and dampening so this may be able to get your to your desired level of comfort. With that said, I believe there is an issue with running the Teins at Stock Height and getting them to work properly. (can be found for around $600)

Most expensive, but the best option are BC BR racing coilovers. They are custom made for your specs and are 30+ way adjustable. You can independently set ride height from dampening so you don't have the issue the teins have. You can order them with custom spring rates so you can get a softer or firmer ride from the springs, and the dial the dampening to your spec. I will probably pick up a set of these in a few thousand miles when it's time for new shocks. These are fully rebuildable (you can purchase parts from BC) so they could last as long as your car if you keep rebuilding them.

Hi Excelerate Parts,

Do you guys carry this product anymore? Do you have a compatible version for the 2012 FWD TL?

I went with Koni FSD and they are great. Not listed for AWD but, all 4G TL shocks carry the same factory part number.
