I got ahold of some 19in X5 wheels for a great price and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on the firmest of them on my 4th gen TL?
im just starting to get into cars since this is my first “nice” car, so I’m not quite sure what to do with most of this stuff haha
The ones closer are the rims that I’ve bought. The ones further are the ones I already have on my car as summers (I’m running my winter tires right now ) I’m planning on using these for summer tires. The original owner has 255/50/19 tires on them that won’t fit the TL, so before I go spending money on new tires, I want to make sure they’ll fit. Just a pic of the car haha
very nice those are the F15 467 wheels!!! Same bolt pattern 5x120. Hub is 74.1, ours are smaller @ 64.1 so you'll need an adapter ring for a few dollars. Not sure on offset and if yours are staggered. You might need spacers but bolt em on and try and see how they look!
just a reminder, as i just put some 3 series rims on my 4G as winter rims my garage had to get me some different lug nuts for it, as we can't use stock nuts for bimmer rims
i believe its the size of the nuts, stock nuts are too big for the bimmer wheels, im not sure what exact size you will need since my garage just took care of it for me LOL
I also exchange technology with BMW. On my TL im running #style95 wheels. They fit will the oem lug nuts. You are correct definitely research tire sizes before buying tires to ensure the correct fit. I had to try different fit before i eventually got a decent fitment. If i had done all my research before maybe i wouldn't have to even roll my fenders. I have a square setup running 19x9. Check the forums as well as YouTube for tire options. that's how i started learning. Also you can by some used tires analyze fitment until you figure it out. But that can get pricey. Good luck on your findings.
Hey what are you running on your 19x9 in terms of size of tire?
at first I was running what bmw had which was 245/40/19and I think that’s the same size as our Oem 19s ... but I was rubbing in the rear and front some times ... then I tried running 225/40/19 which are perfect no rubbing at all but when I look at the wheel they seem skinner and I kinda like the poking look.. so my next fitment testing I will run is 235/35/19... man hopefully this is the last time I’m test fitting tires .. lol. But I’ve been lucky I got new tires for about $40 each .... but I’m just using them to test the fitment. I checked the offer up app and get lucky... but so far the tires I have tested all ride decent I actually took a 5 hour drive one way with the test tires (225/40/19) and had no problem ... drove from jersey to Watkins glen ... after testing if I decided to go with another size I will probably sell em on OfferUp so it’s like exchanging tires but again it can get pricey. I try to get square setup so I can rotate them evenly .. so I’m just testing the waters preparing for next spring. If 235/35/19 run well meaning if it doesn’t rubs and looks nice I’ll keep em if not . I might just get 225/40/19 and live with it ... another thing I notice is that different tires are thicker than others... so far I’ve been using Achilles they actually not bad... but can be thick on the sidewall
vs westlake which is a bit skinner ... anyway these are just budget tires I use to test the waters with the 19x9 wheels I got... but yes I can’t stress this enough try to research your tire fitment so that way you don’t have to roll the fenders.. oooh and another important thing I’m running TEIN street advance coils so I’m lowered but not crazy low just the recommended height in the manual... if my tire testing pulls through I’m definitely going lower.
because there are so much tire options and size you might not catch a YouTube video precise to our fitment needs just gotta keep researching unless you know a tire guru
