Anyone with H&R Sport Springs?

Looking to pick up a set for a milder drop compared to the Tein S-Tech's I had before. Spec's are listed at 1" front and rear. Any input/pictures are much appreciated.

Havent seen then on a 4g yet, butI had them on my 03 CL, with some Koni adjustable struts. Rode very nice, and the drop didnt compromise wheel travel, steering, or ride quality. I suspect the reduced travel would probably wear out the stock struts pretty quickly. Might look at some good struts while you're in there.

H&R makes some good stuff, the ride will be slightly harsher but it shouldn't be by much.

You posted at 5am! Were u up all night / morning or something? Lol. That's some dedication

I've read problems with Tein Springs... I even hated them on my 08 TL. That said however.. As far as I know...anyone with H&R springs on their UA9 have been satisfied, including Blackura; who loves them.

I was heading the SS direction but decided to go H&R for now while still allowing me to do other things to the car and else where in life.

I've got H&R's on my car, for about a year and 1/2 now. I love them, they're not to aggressive, and are not harsh at all.

Totally worth the money.

How are the OEM shocks holding up with the lowering springs ?

ive had tons of setups

Eibach Sportline - 04 TSX
Tein Basic - 06 TL
Eibach Prokit - 08 TL-S
Tein SS w/ EDFC- 08 TL-S
H&R Springs 09 & 10 TL SH-AWD

The H&R is by far, the best riding spring. of course, the car isnt slammed but its a perfect balance of form & function.

The SS + EDFC was nice, but at a $1400~ price tag, it wasnt worth it to me to get again. H&R springs were like $225 shipped.

no gains, there was no benefit towards lowering it with springs.

only a harsher ride.

with full coils, i got it to be much more smoother with being slammed.

Coilovers vs a replacement spring will always feel like crap in comparison; you're talking completely different spring rate and suspension travel. For a daily driven car, I never recommend coilovers.

I blew out 2 stock front struts on the left inside of my CL with lowering springs. They just couldnt handle the reduced travel. Since then, I always do spring/strut at the same time. A much faster installation as well if you go ahead and buy new caps and pillows at the same time, and then you can easily restore to stock as well.

How bad are changing the rears on the 4g? They were a $#(* on the CL with the towers in the rear window/speaker deck.

the rears are a pain in the ass! it wasnt the initial install of the rear struts but the rear seats are tricky to remove.

If I could describe the H&R springs I would say firm but not stiff, sporty but not harsh with just the right amount of lowering.

And we will actually be keeping a few sets of these in stock in our East Coast and West Coast warehouse.

Hmm - what is the actual drop of the H&R Sports? I've seen them listed a couple of other places at 1" Front and 1" Back. Your website has them listed at 1.4" and 1.3".

I just installed some Tein H.Tech's last week. Drop is just good enough and ride is not bad at all. Feels like stock and not all that harsh. I also installed a progress sway bar at the same time. Night/Day difference in handling

This thread is causing more confusion for me. Half of you like the H&Rs and the other half are suggesting Tein coilovers....

blah.

I'm looking to drop my TL about 1" - 1.5". H&Rs look about right for the ride height. My biggest concerns are ride quality and OEM struts' longevity with a different rate/travel springs. Not looking for performance, just something that will fill in the fender gap with aftermarket wheels and keep the ride/handling close to OEM.

Yea - the OEM struts will likely lose some life by going with H&R's.

But they are very beefy struts to begin with. I'd say with H&R's you still could easily get 40-50k our of your OEM struts.

Just do what I'm going to do - install H&R's and when your struts go, replace with Teins.

My CL struts lasted about 4 or 5k on H&R springs. You'll blow em out quick.

H&R lists the drop as 1.0" F&R.

They dropped 1 3/16" in front, and 11/16" in rear.

Center cap to fender lip was measured at 14 5/16" in front, and 14 9/16" in rear.

(in case anyone didn't know there is a proper way to measure height: http://www.heeltoeauto.com/pitboard/?p=511)

Will that make the car look weird, now with the front end being lower than the rear end ?

It's the other way around - the rear's looks lower than the front. Here is an example of before and afters. Honestly, the difference between the front and back isn't really that noticeable.

I just wrote a DIY and posted this morn. No before pics, since I am pretty sure you are all familiar with that setup.

Given that the rear measured lower than the front to being with, no, it looks pretty awesome.

Thank you sir
Ride quality is a stock feeling unless the bumps are really bad but I'd say it's bearable. Braking feels better my car doesn't nose dive like it used to when I come to a quick stop.
I thought about h&r's too but went with these. But from all the feedback on the h&r's and you're looking for a mild drop can't go wrong with these.

Yea - not sure. I have a thread around here somewhere that shows a one finger gap in the rear wheel wells, and like 1 & 1/2 in the front. Basically not really enough to be noticeable.

Some time in the next year or two I'll probably upgrade to Teins. Been toying with the idea of moving from my 18" winter/20" summer combo to a lighter weight 19" with all seasons. I think i'd want to go a bit lower if I went with 19's.

If you guys want to compare heights, use the link I posted.

BTW, I have a set of Teins in stock if someone wants them. Got returned. It would be nice to get the measurements on them.

I've got the H&R's (from Marcus at HeelToe) on my 3G Type S and love them. The Tein's didn't make sense to me at ~$1,300. I just wanted the drop-the H&R's did the trick!

Well, Steven, don't forget that the "teins" you were considering were not springs...they were coilovers with a bunch of options
