Ace Alloy Wheels- Replicas or Original?

Hey AZers!

There's a huge discussion on Acura TL Generation 4 Facebook Group page that Ace Alloy Wheels' wheels are replicas. (Background: selling my wheels since they don't fit the 2016 MDX' bolt pattern).

<IMG SRC="https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpl1/v/t1.0-9/1012535_10100349012653182_817056563818972023_n.jpg ?oh=532c4f55a68d8fa5f8cf86316eac0a5f&oe=57129D6E">

On the side note: What are you thoughts about the folks on this FB page? Their post =

My inspiration on why I bought my wheels:

every wheel is a replica of something... it's all a matter of how well your wheel knowledge is..

There's a difference between a fake and a replica. A fake wheel sold under the assumption that you're buying a authentic product. A replica is a copy of an authentic product, branded and sold by a different brand. An example of this that's common is with bmw wheels, many brands sell wheels that have OEM designs but are branded as aftermarket, have more aggressive fitment, are certified and are good quality. Wheel designs aren't trademarked and any wheel company can borrow another companies design. For example I could get a custom wheel shop to make me a forged version of A Vossen CV3, it would be more expensive, stronger and lighter than the original, although it would technically be a replica. What I'd always avoid is fake wheels like all those BBS LM's floating around.

Right! from what I've gather from the guy (Wahib) who was interested. He is thinking the wheels are fake versus the actual definition of replicas. Fake as in poor quality and potential to fall apart based on aggressive driving. Ace Alloy Wheels aren't well known but they do make amazing quality wheels and passed multiple certification. Some of the 4G owners have their wheels. I was trying to sell these wheels in different venues but the FB group I've posted in criticizes everything with little to no knowledge (including the Morimoto xB Foglight Housings).

Like jjashaa, everything could be a replica of something. There are so many wheel designs from reputable aftermarket companies that could have similarities to another.

Wahib knows as much about cars and wheels as donkeys do about gourmet cooking. There are a handful of knowledgeable, experienced and educated members on FB group; I wouldn't take anything said there to heart or take "potential" buyers seriously.

Lol. There are quite a few members on there like that. Most of the posts on there wouldn't fly on this forum.

^ agree like the base vs TL-S. People are pretty dumb on facebook with their identity attached but nice here with it much more separated...

For me it's not about protecting or hiding my superficial identity; it wouldn't bother me one bit to make my avatar a picture of myself. I act and respond the way I do here and there because that's who I am. If the only reason people here are nice or mean is being they're separated from their true identities then that speaks volumes about them negatively.

I post on the Facebook page under my personal FB account. I say whatever comes to mind. Same thing here. If somebody has a question or issue I feel like I can provide knowledgable and helpful insight on, I'm more than happy to give input. At the same time, when people post stuff that is flat-out bullshit, I don't hesitate to call them out on it. I'm the same way in person. When I made the comment about the posts there vs here, I meant more along the lines of just general, noobish, spoon feeding questions and overall silliness. 99% of the stuff posted on the FB page is nonsense. This forum is a little more serious as well as informative.

I have a personal FB account that I haven't been active on since 04' and since I felt that the only presence I want to have on FB currently is car related, so I made a FB account for it. Which is currently the only one I use.

But yeah, those FB guys are jerks, huh?

You got a hell of a deal! I bought a few things from UFMike, guy was a total baller. He sold a buncha stuff a low prices just to recover a few bucks from what eh paid. They're not jerks, most are just misinformed, buncha are dumb and have no idea what they're talking about although they think they do. Which is only a problem if you take offensive to what they say.
