35 or 40 profile tire for 19in wheel

I know 40 is the correct size for tires for our cars but what would look better? Also will it allow me to lower my car more if I got a 35 profile. Also will my speedmeter be messed up with 245/35/19 tires? Thanks guys

Stock were 245/50/17

You could do that and it would allow you to go lower. Depending on how you find the ride quality to be now should be the determining factor as to whether going lower profile or not is a good idea.

please explain why you think it will allow you to go lower if you go with 35 series? are you having clearance issues? because thats the only reason why you would go with a lower profile tire..

the wheels aren't even on the car yet lol i still need to buy tires. i just wanted to know what profile to go with since I'm installing more aggressive wheels i want the whole set up to look good and i didn't know if a 40 series tire would look to beefy on a 19 inch wheel,

a tire size will depend on your wheel size and offset.

if you dont list them down, im pretty much working blindly.

let me know the wheel specs

go with 40, you wont have clearance issues..

the difference in height for 40 and 35 is minimal.. but drastically changes the ride quality.

Okay perfect thank you I appreicate it pots. I'll definitely being going with 245/40-19! I'm sure it'll look great. The tires I'm going with are the michelin pilot sports a/s 3 from tirerack. Y speed rating. Any opinions on those? Read a lot of great reviews for them

Yeah im fine with that because now I have a winter set for my stock 17 inch wheels. Just mostly care about the dry and wet performance which they're supposed to be great in

245/40/19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport on my car and love them, why not go with dedicated summer tires since you have a winter set up.

Because I want to put my wheels on now and they said they shouldn't be used in 40-50 weather and it'll be in the 40 and 50 in jersey until the end of April. And I heard they handle just as well as some summer tires so I fiuugred they were a great choice

Oh ok. I have driven with the MPSS below the 7 degrees threshold and had no ill effects, however at 2 degrees it started to lose traction.

45 is too thick in my opion.. even for 19.. go with 40 series.. you should be fine.

^^ what "Potmilkz" said.

The 40 series ride smooth and is the correct profile for 19", 45 would be overkill and affect handling Imo.

I was wondering the same thing. I currently have 245/45-18 on the factory 18" AWD wheels and am considering getting a set of the Acura HPT 19" wheels for summer. However, I'm concerned with ride comfort. The 245/45-18 can be a little harsh over bumps, but I think the Bridgestone Potenzas currently on it are crap. They have over half the tread left and they are noisy as hell. Not sure if noise and ride quality go hand-in-hand, but I assume they do. A 245/45-19 will have the same sidewall height, so proportionally they will look the same as the 245/45-18. The 19's will add another inch to the overall diameter, which will fill in the wheel well a tad more, which I like. Sure, the speedo will be off by a few MPH, but I'm not really concerned with that. Has anyone actually tried a 245/45-19 that can comment? If I end up going with a 40 series tire, then I want to be sure the ride comfort isn't compromised, so I'd want to go with a Grand Touring tire as opposed to an high performance or ultra high performance, correct?

Your car will drop significantly from 40 to 35, that's my experience, the car wasn't scraping on pavement with my stock wheels with 245/45r18. but after I swap to another set of wheels with 235/35r19 which is a downsized tire, the car scraps a lot more now without doing anything with the coilover.

So my thought is, unless you are rubbing up front right now and you want to go low, then go for 35 series. Orelse, just stick with 40 series.
