2012 TL Tech, need lowering information for 19" rims

I have a 2012 TL tech, and I will be putting Rohana RC10 rims with Hankook 235/35/19 tires on it. What I need to know is what springs or coilovers to purchase for this job. Also any other pertinent information I would need to know, like rim displacement suggestions, I.e. How concave or convex front and rears should be.

This site where I will be buying the rims is suggesting a staggered setup- 33mm offset for front, and 35mm offset for rears. Is that ok?

Hard to say without knowing the full specs of the wheels; Like the rear are 19x10 with a +35 offset for example.

Also any particular reason why you decided to go 19" vs. 20"?

- Staggered Full Set -
(2) 19x8.5 Rohana RC10 Silver/Machined w/ Chrome Stainless Steel Lip
(2) 19x9.5 Rohana RC10 Silver/Machined w/ Chrome Stainless Steel Lip

I don't want to go 20 because of cost and I think 19 is the right size for my taste.

Step lip is sort of a double lip, it literally mimics a step on a staircase. That was a typo on my part though, I meant to just say lip.

You don't like 19 instead of 20"?

That setup will easily fit. Any particular reason you're going with 235/35/19 for the tires? You're not going with an aggressive setup.

Can you give me an idea for an aggressive setup? I'm all ears. I thought 19s would look good but tell me what your idea is.

235 is too narrow and looks off, especially with wheel sizes 18 and up. It would only make sense to use factory tire specs for 19s. 245/40-19

It's like what McMilli said. 235 is too narrow and 35 is too thin on 19" wheels and your offset not being aggressive. How much are you gonna lower the car?

Ok got it on the 245/40/19. I am not sure what to do for offsets and how much to lower the car. No clue at this point and would like advice.

I only wanted 235/35/19 because of the lower aspect ratio but I will go with your suggestion for tire size. Can someone tell me what springs to go with for lowering? Like what distance the drop should be so what springs for that distance? A link to where I can buy them? Brand, item #?

motley, you can google it all that info

all the info is online, you just have to spend some effort into doing so.. there are threads here as well.

tein website shows spring rate, drop height, part number

h&r also shows the same info as well on their website.

I have decided to go with 20" rims. This is the setup...

- Staggered Full Set -
(2) 20x9 Rohana RC10 Silver/Machined w/ Chrome Stainless Steel Lip
(2) 20x10 Rohana RC10 Silver/Machined w/ Chrome Stainless Steel Lip

I just need someone to help me out with offsets and lowering. The options I have for front wheels is 20mm and 35mm and the only offset offered for the rears is 35mm.

Regarding the springs/coilovers, I understand that the coilovers are much more expensive but offer a height adjustment feature. If I can install springs at the right height to begin with I do not see the need to adjust the height and therefore do not see the need for coilovers. I will be going with 245/35/20 tires unless someone thinks otherwise. Also, can I do this without the need to roll the fenders or shave off any tabs in he wheel we'll and still get a nice lowering distance?

Here are the springs I see as options:

These H&R springs will lower the ride 1.5"-1.8".

These Eibach rings will lower the ride 1"-1.5".

H&R over Eibach all day long, the H&R will provide a much smoother ride.

Thanks. What are your thoughts on the offsets I mentioned above. Also, when you take into consideration said offsets, the 1.5"-1.8" lowering by the H&M springs, and the tires/rims, will I be ok? Will there be any tire rubbing, ride issues, etc? Really could use someone's help with this. I do not want to buy everything and then run into issues. Here is a link to the rims. Thanks for the additional help.

With the offsets I mentioned will the wheels sit inside the wheel wells more, or will they stick out more? Higher number offset means sticking out more, or less? I just want the tires to sit flush with the fenders. In order to achieve that what offset am I looking for?

Are 19's really considered "small" with a lowered setup?!?! I never thought I'd venture into the 20's territory on a sedan like the TL...

I found this site here that would help you out a great deal. www.Willtheyfit.com
It's great for checking the offsets. Hope this helps!
