2010 TL - Flat tire

Had a non-repairable flat tire (25K miles) on my 2010TL this AM on my way to work. Thick screw went in and its close to the side-wall. This was the original set

Called Acura and they said Tires are not covered under warranty neither can the tread be pro-rated..so I guess my options are :

1) Whats a good tire besides the factory Michelin MXM4 (245-18-45) ? I will have to get 2 tires.
OR
2) Should I just get another set of 2 MXM4 and stay consistent on all 4.

Need recommendations. Thanks in advance.

It is highly adviceable that all 4 tires on the same car are of identical brand and model.

So your options are either to buy 2 new MXM4 (to replace the bad one), or to buy 4 new tires from another brand.

ditto! replace two at a time or all 4

never do 1 tire unless your tires are brand new with less than 2k on it then you can just replace one.

OK. Thanks. I may bite the bullet and get me (i mean 4 new tires) something that gives better handling. Whats the favorite out there for good handling? Its summer-time now but I live in Ohio where we get some serious snow/rain...so want something that does better than the MXM4.

So I went to TireDiscounters and asked a quote for 2 Michelin Pilot MXM4's. The salesman starts selling me 4 tires instead of 2.. saying thats how its done on SH-AWD's. Is that true?

Not necessary - you should be fine with either two new in the front or two new in the back.

I would say don't waste your money on the OEM tires - get the Continental ExtremeContact DWS - I've heard nothing but good things about that tire.

+1 to not using oem tires. they're pretty bad... buy 2 better tires stick em on the rear.

then sell off the one good tire on Craigslist or kijiji for $50

also... hit up tirerack!! they're great!

Another option is to pick up a pair of used MXM4s with similar wear so you can get the life out of your other two tires. How much are they worn?

Not that familiar with treadlife on MXM4s, but if they're less than 50% tread, I would just replace all four.

I put the DWSs on my Accord this Christmas, and I think they're a great tire. I think the sidewall is a little soft, but grip is hugely improved in all weather conditions, and it's much quieter.

Not true.

Unless the remaining 2 MXM4's have very little tread left, otherwise you'll have to replace the 2 at the front or the rear depending on where your flat is located.
