20" on non-lowered TL
Fellas
Will this set up work on a FWD 2010 TL that isn't dropped:
Wheel Size: 20x8.5 Front and 20x10
Bolt patter: 5x120
Offset: +34 Front and +40 Rear
Tire Setup: 245x35x20 Front and 275x30x 20 Rear
Also - in regards to lowering my car... will it change the ride quality (stiffness, comfort, etc)? I like the look but this is my daily driver and I have my baby and wife in the back seat, so not wanting to mess things up too much for looks.
Last question - what does it cost to lower the car 1"?
THANKS!

Welcome to acurazine, It will work but you have to keep a few things in mind. With that setup you stretching your tires a little, but if u have a few people in the car you might rub.
When lowering the car their are 2 options, springs or coils. Which way are you thinking of going?

That set up will work all day...until you lower it. The offsets are very conservative and those tire sizes are FAR from stretching on those width rims.
Only problem you will have is the rears will rub with 275's if lowered.
Even with your fenders rolled they will still rub.

Thanks Vivmike - so if I do not lower the car, that set up will not cause any rubbing? Truth is I would rather avoid lowering my car or rolling my fenders, but after looking at pictures, I like the wider stance in the rear...
Otherwise I was planning on going with what I have read most ppl doing - 20x8.5 all around with a 245/35/20 -- just don't know if it will give a clean look with those specs

types1fan... in regards to lowering... I really have no idea. Trying not to mess with the stock suspension - but if I have to in order to make the car look right with the wheels I want, I will. I would want to go which ever direction will give me the best / most comfortable ride (for a family car).

will not look good if not lowered.
also do not rock 30 series tire in rear if your not planning to lower.. it will just look weird and you will end up wasting money to exchange for 35 series tire.

it wont rub.. your not lowered.
buys 40k car.. installs $200 springs.. fail
btw your ride quality will drop.. it will be stiffer due to having small sidewalls and upgrade wheel size.

we'll see how it goes...
i called the tire shop and he told me bc i am going w a 245/35 in the front, a 275/30 is the right set up and the 275/35 wont be the right height... i dont knw, but thats what he told me.
im aware of the ride quality... the way i see it, if its really that bad ill just put my stocks back on or look for a oem set of 18s. i like having my options.

the shop is correct on the size.. but imho.. that scenario only comes into play if your lowered..
i can guarantee you that it is THAT bad. i had 20's before.. hated the ride quality, stuck my 18's back on.. and still currently is rolling on stock 18's

As for you question, since you don't plan on lowering it. Just go with 20x8.5 +35 all around with 245/35.

Front wheels and tires are in... but rear wheels won't be here until the 8th... and I'm in Phoenix that week for a business trip... so it looks like next Sat for the install. Pics will be up once they're on.

i lowered my car on tein SS coilovers. every single little bump i go over now i hear loud rattles and clunks. it is driving me crazy and i will be going back to the stock suspension. so i would say for the lowered look you will sacrifice ride quality.

Umm mine is solid and quiet. Yours has an install issue. The quality of the ride is better than factory.

Any update? Or are you getting them installed this coming weekend?

Sorry for the delay... I just had time to post some pics to the thread.
These are the Niche Targa - car is staying at stock height, and I did roll my rear fenders (only bc I hear very minimal rub when turning into a parking lot with rear passengers). All in all - ride is very smooth and the exhaust sets it off.

I bet you when you got done with the install you had some bolts, washers, and a weird part laying around.

@wreak... ill post some more pics up to show how it sits...
In regards to paint cracking, no. I hears of nightmares of that happening when people try and either do it themselves or get someone inexperienced. I had a good connect here in San Diego and had no issues.

@ucf_bronco... exactly! I am always on the road, so as nice as a lowered car looks in pics, I'm happy with how my car sits and how it rides. Plus I have a carseat in the back, so stock height is what I promised my wife!

Very nice choice on the wheels. Looks good. I think 1/2" to 3/4" drop would make it perfect.
Love the exhaust, how do you find the sound/drone? I be installing mine this weekend if it arrives on Friday as per UPS website.
