What is going on here?

Popped hood the other day which I rarely do to snap some pics and I see this around the UIM cover.. not sure if a CPO wrnty would fix this or if it's even an issue. Anybody know what this is and a fix? Going in for an oil change Friday and will mention.

the intake manifold captures oil and carbon thanks to your PCV and EGR valves.

to me, it just looks like oil seepage, so maybe the seal/gasket to top cover of the intake manifold has gone bad or is letting oil seep out.

those little tiny bolts are 10mm and they dont take much torque, so if you do remove them dont tighten them too tightly.

Oh, you should see mine - lol - I'll post pics later.

My speculation? Those rubber gaskets, during the winter months in freezing temps, either get too hard and lose their effectiveness, or get seriously damaged. Maybe the aluminum gaskets too suffer from the same low temperature problem. I am planning to change all rubber and aluminum gaskets soon, just to see if there is any difference.

Update.... so it's been 3600 miles since oil change in Dec 2014. They showed me dipstick and it's maybe 1-2mm above the lowest line. They tell it's totally normal. Also the seepage around the cover is totally normal as well and nothing to worry about. They said since I'm only at 40% life left no need to change and they'll just add a little to top it off. They also had mechanic out there with the dipstick to verify oil level and SA said go ahead and add some oil. Mechanic kind of giggled like ok dumbass. I said well don't add it then I don't give a shit And walked off. So anyway guess it's all totally normal.

Rant over....

its not really "normal"

the seepage you see could be caused by a bad cover seal/gasket or the pcv not working correctly.

it's not enough to worry about tho...so that's why they told you its "normal"

Leakage isn't normal

^^^^ this and that ^^^^

I agree w both of you and will do. Only 2 dealers in the indianapolis area north and south side. One closest to me is of course the one giving me issues every single time I mention 1 problem the car may have. Other dealer is 45 mins away but may give it a shot. Also have a door seal that's beginning to tear for some reason on drivers door, mentioned it and they said since it's a cpo wrnty that we have to take a picture of it and get approval from acura to replace and the tone the SA had was like Omg he's complaining about this and will be a pain in the ass to do it.

I also had a 1230 appt and got here 10 mins early.... here I sit almost 2 hrs later to TOP OFF THE STUPID OIL W 1 DAMN QUART. WTH!?

So I love this.... SA comes out and says car is all rdy. But, and I quote the idiot mechanic reset your mid reminder to 100% so he went ahead and changed the oil, dumbass...!! So I said oh! Thot we agreed we weren't gona do that? She said well yeah but he forgot (even tho mechanic, SA and I stoo there and agreed we weren't doing it) So since resetting the minder would screw things up we went ahead and do it but it's only 30 bux so no big deal. I said o yeah sure. Whatever.

So I pay reluctantly and drive out of the service drive and go around to the front and decide f this.... walked in got a mgr explained all to him and he said o that's unacceptable, if u got a minute hold on and I'll brb. He comes back apologetic and hands me an A1 next service free. Sorry for the troubles.
