trip odometer resets itself

I have a 2010 TL - SHAWD - 6MT that I got new in Sept. of 2009. I don't take long trips in it, so this weekend I was surprised & annoyed that after a mid-trip stop for gas on my way back to Dallas from College Station, the trip odometer had reset itself. The ability of tracking the trip's length was then lost.
Why does it do this.? Or does mine have a unique problem? Does anyone else's TL reset itself also after getting gas?

This is a setting. Trip A resets after fill ups. Trip B stays untouched. You can turn this off somewhere in the MID settings.

I think, and correct me if I am wrong, there was a thread a while back about that with a different cause/effect. The cause was too much time the car was left idling and the effect was a reset of that counter. Not sure if anyone remembers that... will search to see if I can find the thread. Wonder if OP left the car running idle for too long at some point in time during his trip too.

edit: found it: https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...etting-906027/

(something about a software update in there somewhere too)

No, when I made that trip and fill-up, I made the stop, got my gas, and then out I went on my way without delay. And no real lengthy idling at any time during the whole trip that I can remember.
