Transmission Problem P0843

Just bought 09 TL w/ 55k on it and when driving on the highway car got stuck in 3rd and would not shift to 4th even when using the paddle shifters. Error code P0843 came up. Noticed that this code was brought up before in the forum but to no conclusion.

After towed to the dealer (not taking any chances) they did not have any problems when testing it. It shifted fine. They told me that the code was for a Bad pressure switch and they ordered a New pressure solenoid (spelling) whatever that is and are in the process of installing. The car is under warranty so not out of pocket expnenses just very concerning.

The question is do I have a lemon, should i dump the car trade it back in, is this just the beginning of my transmission problems?

Your thoughts.

Trade it back in, if you just got it and your already having problems chances are its a lemon.

I had this happen with my MDX at about 53K miles. I was driving at 60MPH suddenly when I got a transmission error message. I parked, turn off the car, back on and noticed the car wouldn't go past 4th gear.

I called up acura, they towed it free of charge to the dealer and I was told that the 5th gear pressure switch wasn't sending a signal (went bad) and they were getting it overnighted and replaced.

I'm not saying that this is something normal, but I am saying that it's something very minor.

just a thought...

maybe trans fluid should be replaced more often then said in the service manuals. dirty fluid could be plugging up the shift solenoids.
