Is the prop shaft issue prevalent in the front wheel base version TL? Like the window is just slightly cracked, the wind kind of noise. That related you think?
T/C and prop shaft were noted for the SH-AWD. Not saying it can't happen on the FWD models but I haven't seen one on AZ. You are probably the only FWD TL that had the T/C replaced on AZ that I know of.

For prop shaft, many SH-AWD complained of whining whistle like noise. https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...nt-car-765546/

That's great, glad to hear. Just had the same thing happen to me. Recieved car yesterday and I have renewed faith in Acura!! I'm loving this glass-smooth shifting!!! I hope yours is the same!

Thoughts? Own a 2013 FWD with the Advance Pkg. Car has 17K miles, has had the oil changed every 5K miles and I drain/filled the transmission at 15K miles with genuine Honda fluid.

I'm noticing a few things on my car. To begin when I am in reverse my car is shuttering and it isn't terrible however noticeable where in the past it did not do this. Also shifting from 1st to 2nd is a bit abrasive/sharp and in 1st when I idle the car seems to roll aggressively as if I'm pressing the throttle lightly. Thoughts on if these symptoms are normal or if maybe I'm having some type of TC issue?

On Tuesday ,TL is going in for a checkup...torque converter acting up...
I have a bad feeling about this as in "there is nothing wrong with your car, its normal for all TLs to shift and vibrate like that"...
Went in to make an appointment, described the issue and the SA is asking me what kind of gas I put in the car....!!!!!
Told him I put diesel in....!!

noticed one more weird behaviour...when coming to a full stop ,just before the car stops rolling there is a vibration present....for a 1.5 second and then it goes away and the car stops.

I have heard the whistling noise on my 2012 TL for a few weeks and decided to schedule the appointment for diagnosis. Come in today and within 45 mins, the dealer called back and said the torque converter was bad which caused all the whistling noise but the strange thing was the dealer immediately gave me the loaner car and let me know that they will keep my car for a couple days. I was a little suspicious and asked why, the answer was they had to order the torque converter first and replace it.
I believe they usually order the part first, tell me to come back when the part comes in and replace it but they give me the loaner right away today make me feel a little bit uneasy. Anyway, the service advisor said he will call me on Tuesday with the update.
Btw, the loaner is the new TLX with only 1,800 miles on it but it's a 4 cylinder ..

I picked up the car from the dealership after 3 days of troubleshooting, test drives and debates (that's what they claim, and 30 km of test drives)
transmission software reload...and the answer is : there is nothing wrong with your car, the technician was not able to recreate the symptoms you described....3 f@#$%^g days and they tell me all is good....
The moment I left the lot ,there.... the vibrations is felt coming from the engine, at 60km/h the rpm drops to around 1250 and again vibrations and growl can be noticed....
I offered to go on the road with the technician to show him when its happening but they said there is no need because they will take screenshot of the transmission and see if there is a problem...
I am pissed...got to try another dealership...I guess...

I am actually going thru the same thing. In my case, I had a T/C replaced and this vibration happened. There were no vibrations prior to the T/C replacement. I went on a test drive with a tech and the tech confirmed the "droning" as he described it and said it was not normal. Dealer had the car for 2 days and now the service manager is saying its normal. Service adviser said if it gets worse, bring it back. But just to sort of document this, I wrote an email to Acura Client Services. They basically said that they have to go by what the dealer said and if I am uneasy about it, to get a second opinion at a different dealership. I have some vacay time coming up in a couple weeks and I plan to do exactly that... and goto another dealership and see what they say.

Only SH-AWD have a prop shaft. It's the "drive shaft" to the rear wheels.

I just pick up the car today. The noise was less noticeable but it's still there.... call the service advisor and he suggested that drive the car for a week in order for the T/C to break in.
Has anyone had the same problem after the T/C replacement??
I'm not sure if the T/C needs to be broken in...

I am thinking no....If that was the case, every brand new TL would have the same sound until TQ was broken in....

I recently purchased a certified 2010 SH-AWD and started to hear a noise underneath the car at low speeds. I assumed it was the torque converter based on the great information presented on this forum. When I took it to one dealership, based off the VIN, they stated that the torque converter was already replaced but the software was never updated. When I took it back to the dealership I purchase it from they stated that both were done and they did not know why the information was incorrect in Acura HQ DB. Long story short the dealership I purchased the car from clearly heard the noise and is ordering another torque converter (BTW the software had already been updated because it would not allow them to apply it again). I was just curious to know if anyone has had their torque converter replaced more than once. And how many miles did they drive before they replacement went bad. The car is a real pleasure to drive and I picked it up because I got tired of shelling out $1000+ per year to maintain an Audi.

I believe there were a few members in here had their T/C replaced twice. Do a quick search for T/C and you will see.

First off I would like to give Acura of Bellevue 2 thumbs up. They are the best Acura dealership I've ever had to work with. Went to other local dealerships and all they would do is reset and upgrade tranny software.

I have a 2012 FWD with the same problem OP had. At low RPM around 2500-3000 while going uphill especially, my RPM would rise and drop 500 to 750 making the car feel like it was stuttering. Long story short the dealer ended up calling the Acura corporate office and they suggested replacing the tourque converter under warranty. Since then no more stutter and feels like a brand new car. If you are experiencing anything like this I suggest bringing your car in to get checked. Even if you are out of warranty you can still get them to replace. I believe its a known issue that Acura is not making visible their customers but will own up on it if you go to the right dealership.

First, I would really like to thank all of you on the forum, and especially on this thread. I started experiencing the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shuddering and then the RPM fluctuations. I never knew how to put into words, but thanks to all of you, you gave me the wording.

On Saturday, I took my car in to the dealer for the B1, alignment, and this problem. While I was describing the problem, I started getting that look from the service adviser. You know that look. The one that says "Here is another kook and the un-recreatable problem.

Adviser: "Sir, have you had your transmission fluid changed?"
Me: thinking ohf, here we go. "No, the code has not come up yet even though I have 51k on the car"
Adviser: "Well, I think we should do the fluid change. But we'll have the techs take a test drive."
Me: "Ok."

I walked out thinking "they are never going to find this problem and I'll have to find another dealer and call Acura and go through all kinds of crap I have absolutely no time for."

Well, got a call in the afternoon.
Adviser message: "Sir, we were able to recreate the shuddering. Its the Torque Converter. We'll have to replace it but we can't order till Monday, so we'll have the car till Tuesday or Wednesday."
Me: JUMPING UP AN DOWN WITH JOY. YESSSSS, THEY FOUND IT!!!!

Now, lets see what happens when I get the car back. But at least they found it!
Thanks everyone!
