On TL-issues with gas pedal being close to brake pedal
2012 Acura TL-
I have found that when I put my foot down on the brake pedal, at times the foot is also on the gas pedal--- happened to me about a dozen times in the past year I've had the car (fortunately only happened in parking lots when no one was in front of me). I have normal shoes and wear a size 11 shoe. Recently had an accident where when putting my foot on the brake, the engine revved and the car jumped forward, hitting the car in front of me- fortunately no one was walking in front of my car. Never had this problem in all the years I've been driving (many).
Problem is that the gas pedal is close to the brake pedal (I measured against several other cars-- alot closer than any other car), plus when the car starts the brake pedal automatically moves towards the floor, making the brake pedal the same exact level as the gas pedal. Between them being so close to each other and being at the same level, this creates a very dangerous situation when you put your foot on the brake and want to stop.
Needless to say-- VERY DANGEROUS from a safety point of view.
Anyone else having this issue ?

The forum where you originally posted, The AcuraZine User Help, Support & Suggestions Area , is meant for problems, comments, and suggestions for the website itself, so I moved your thread to the car specific forum applicable to your vehicle.

6MT = Six Speed Manual Transmission
Heel/Toe = using both ends of your foot (heel & toe) to manage the braking and acceleration together.
BTW - I have not had any problems with the pedals being to close in my '10 AT TL. I don't know if the spacing of the pedals has changed over the years but I suspect not within the 4th gen. TLs.

it amazes me on the type of "issues" people have with the 4g.. nothing is wrong with the car.. its you..
i have never heard of this issue at all on the 4g.. you are the first mr size 11..
but needless to say.. its not the car that is the problem.. its you.. if you cant tell which is brake and which is gas.. i dont know what to tell you..

I wear a size 13W shoe and have never had a problem in my 2013 TL. Something sounds fishy about the original post...like maybe someone got in an accident and is trying to blame the car?

It's probably because of the manual transmission counter part since I would imagine it would not be cost effective to design a set for each of the transmissions. However, I can only guess the 6MT owners would really appreciate this.
I have an automatic and I have no issues with the accelerator and the gas pedal.

12W, never had that problem. I've driven it with my big-ole' winter boots, and I've driven in flip flops. In every case, I can tell what pedal I am pushing on. It is harder in the boots, but like Justn said, I adapt.

You just need to learn to drive with both feet...left foot is for brake and right is for gas.
On a totally different note, I was driving my wife's Pilot with her and my in-laws a while back. I went for the clutch when approaching a stop sign (yes it's an auto but it's a habit since I drive a 6MT). Sure as shit I clipped the side of the brake pedal with my left foot and sent everyone flying forward. It was funny as hell, though I felt like an idiot.
OP, I wish I had some solid advice for you. Good luck.

6G TLX-S
That was the only way for me to do heel-toe on my 2G Integra back a very long while ago.
The lengthen sport gas pedal will then allow your heel to operate the gas pedal with ease, while your "toe" is on the brake pedal.

As far as the break, it is a good distance above the gas pedal, and even when fully depressed, it is still substantially higher than the gas pedal, I can swivel my foot all I want with the break fully depressed and always glide over the gas without coming close to touching it.
And I am close to needing new breaks, so my pedal is lower than normal.
