Sunroof won't close

My 12TL SHAWD, sunroof won't close, every time it I try to close it it goes to the point where it supposed to bring down the wind deflector. It stops there and goes back. If I pull down the wind diflector with the hand the sunroof closes. Even if i hold the switch to close it wont close. Anyone had this issue?

To avoid the inconvenience I might try a little WD-40 on the wind deflector hinges before going back to the dealer with it. Sounds like a binding issue. If that doesn't work then take it back.

There was AZ thread about the sunroof not closing sometime ago. My sunroof does this too sometimes in very hot weather, which seems to be the thread consensus. When it gets hot (say sunny 90s+ Fahrenheit) the sunroof won't close and just opens back up again. I just let the car cool down in the shade, and then it closes. Suffice it to say this did not happen when it was raining....

Has your sunroof never been able to close since you bought the car, or just intermittently? Did you notice the temperature?

Of course I can't duplicate this at the stealership and they'll probably blame it on driver's error.

I am having this issue also. It is very intermittent. I have a 09. Others have had this issue as well and no one had come up with a solution. I hoping someone does before going to the dealer only to be told."we can't find the problem".,

Mine had does this on a cool rainy day. The top was flipped up and when I went to close it. it would go down then then back up. I just pushed on the front a bit and down she went. I am thinking the roof frame is shifting causing the issue.

I say this because the first time this happened to me, the roof would not close when I stopped, but as soon as I took my foot of the brake and my car moved the roof would close. Stop again and the roof would not close. I called the dealer yesterday to see if any TSB had been issued for this problem but none found. I hope someone finds the solution.

I have tried calling different Acura dealers to see if they know of this issue. One said he did, but did not know what the solution was. I encourage others to call dealers in your area to see if someone knows the solution. It is not just happening to Acurazine members.

yeah it happens in the hot weather before and then yesterday i noticed when was cooler it did the same thing.

i tried grease the sunroof track with silicon and it was still the same problem

but i found the problem in the wind deflector
the passenger side the spring retainer was slightly bent and it kept the sunroof deflector with more tension to come down on the closing point, so i removed the wind deflector out and i adjusted the springs that connect to the sunroof tray.i opened it more to its weaker, and the driver side i left alone it was good, i also noticed that they were not equal when the wind deflector is up, passenger side spring was bent more....

now sunroof operates nice and smooth

I will give this a try first. The repair manual say to reset the sunroof motor. Its very easy to do, and I would think, once you reset the sunroof it will conform to the new tension it is seeing.
