Side mirror not moving to correct position

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with my right side mirror. Someone bumped it and pushed it in while the car was on the street. Now when I push my stored memory button, the mirror doesn't move to the right position. Instead, it moves all the way to the right and tries to keep going. It even clicks because it's trying to move further to the right than it can. I've reset the memory, and it still moves to the wrong position. When I reverse, it moves down and to the right. So it's all messed up.

This happened before and the mirror reset itself. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas to fix it without taking it to the dealer?

manually set it where you want it, and then hit, and hold the memory button. I would think that should fix it.

Yeah, I would think so too but when I reverse (with it in the "R" position), it moves down then to the right. Also, when I hit the memory button to go back to the original position (because it doesn't go back on its own), it goes all the way to the right and starts clicking. It's weird. I figured it would reset on its own (this has happened before), but it hasn't.

The memory pins behind the mirror are likely disengaged.

Reengage the memory pins like this:
With your hands, push the driver’s mirror to its full-in, full-down position.
Push the passenger’s mirror to its full-out, full-down position.

Info is from the June and July 2000 Acura Service News pertaining to the 2001 CL.

It shouldn't matter, but I would do it with the ignition off for safety reasons.

What year is your TL? I had this problem with mine with the mirror going to crazy after a failed auto-tilt during reverse. Then my battery died so I got a new battery, and since then the mirror problem magically fixed itself. Now I think the faulty battery kept tripping up the auto-tilt circuitry....this was a problem the dealership couldn't figure out either.
