Service questions.
I have an '09 TL.
Currently about 14,500 miles, and Maintenance Minder says "5% Oil; Service 1 A".
The manual lists 1 as Oil change and A as Tire rotation. (This will be the 3rd time I'm in for Maintenance Minder service).
I'm in NV.
Both Acura dealers are telling me that I'm due for the 15,000 mile Maintenance for $300/$330, which besides the Oil Change and Rotation also change Air filter, change Dust/Pollen Filter, and do something regarding Fuel Transmission.
I get the feeling that the only thing I really need to do is Oil Change and Rotation.
Apparently to change the Dust Filter it's necessary to remove the glove box, which I don't want to do myself, so I'd just as soon skip this.
Not changing this will only at worst affect my comfort, not the car.
The Air Filter - I can't find anything in the manual explaining where it is or how to find it, but this should be easy to change myself, shouldn't it?
The manual says to change the Air Filter at 15k if in a dusty environment - I don't know if I am.
And I think it says to change the Dust Filter at 20k if in a specially bad urban environment - even if I am in that, it's not due yet.
As far as the Fuel Transmission whatever, sounds like a dealer service hustle.
Feedback appreciated.
Thanks.

your maintenance minder will tell you what needs to be dont, i wouldnt use the dealers "menu" ....they are just trying to get more money out of your pocket...
on the other hand, if your car is awd, maybe they are looking to get your b6 out of the way....your awd fluid would need changing by now...if ofcourse your car is awd...

Well, I have a 2009 also with about 20K miles, I also work at a honda dealer. I had them check my air and cabin filter and they were both black, so they maybe needed for you. I also live in CA and no dusty roads or anything here, just hwy and city streets.
The dealer will always rec. more than what honda says, there is also a differance between severe service and normal depends on drive conditions and the mm system is the very longest you can go without service.
Also, for the 2009 they still have the z1 fluid in the diff. and now change it over to the duel pump type fluid. So I changed that also, for those with awd. Dealers usually offer express service, well honda does in which you can do everything al a carte. Which ends up being cheaper if you don't need brakes checked and vehicle being test driven and such.

The air and cabin filters are relatively easy DIY jobs. Don't pay the dealer to perform them. You should do them, but in my experience the dealer cost to replace these two items is crazy high.

there are NO mileage intervals for maintenance on the car except for the 105k mi for the timing belt or the "4".
cabin and air filters are code 2...and you can easily DIY.
the dealer is trying to get you to spend more. follow your MID, it will tell you what needs to be done. transmission ("3") and differential fluids ("6") are all part of the MID.
hint: when getting the A service done or an A1. tell them you want an oil change and tire rotation and leave it at that. it'll cost you $70. tell them you want the A1 and they'll charge you $150. know your maintenance schedule from your owner's manual and you will save yourself A LOT of money. my dealer NEVER gives me the mileage interval for maintenance (b/c they don't do that), nor do they ever try to upsell me on unneccesary work. they will advise me of things that will need my attention and that's it. your dealer sounds little sketchy.

with the AWD on the 4G TL...the hitch with the rack shouldn't cause it to be squirrely like the 3G TL. glad its working out for you.
OP-seriously, read up...knowledge is power. the other thing about service...don't EVER let the dealer wash your car and always bring it to them freshly bathed that way when you get it back...you'll know if anything has been...innocently damaged by them. anal...yes, but its YOUR car...and i do this anytime the car has been at the dealer.

i know the cabin filter is a PITA to get to in the 3G...hope they remedied that in the 4G. apparently its really easy in the MDX (still behind the glove box without the extra dash panel). its not that bad....the nerve racking part is the fear of breaking the clips to the dash panel.
There was a post a few months ago regarding the 4G cabin filter. A child could replace it. Open the glove box. You will note there is a shelf in there. Pull the shelf out toward you. There is the filter. Nothing to it. After reading the post, I went to look at it on my car. My guess you could have the job done in less that 3 minutes.
