Seat belt latch not locking right

So I discovered a new problem with my 2010 TL Saturday night. My gf is the first person to ride in the passengers seat and we found the latch does not work right. Normally you just have to slide the belt into the receiver and you get that easy click. The passengers side you have to really push the belt deep into the receiver and then there is a weird click sound. It holds and releases just fine but what could be causing this? Anyone else had this issue? Can the receiver be disassembled? I hate to have to have the seat removed to replace the receiver because your just asking for scratched interior panels or new squeaks/rattles

Something may have fallen inside the seat belt buckle.

I played with this at lunch, it appears the latch mechanism is just sticky. Not sure if something was spilled in it in it's previous ownership. Can you spray any lubricant into the mechanism? The seat belt sensor and pretensioner concern me in spraying any wd-40 in there even if it is just a little squirt. Thoughts?
