Rust on calipers and wheel hubs
Rust on calipers and wheel hubs
Getting some warranty work done and mentioned to them the rust issue and they won't so anything about it as it doesn't affect the performance of the car. What did you guys who got something done about say and what work did they do to remedy the situation? I'm very annoyed right now and will no longer use this dealer for service.
Doesn't this fall under the corrosion warranty?

Don't know about the the TSB but I stood my ground and insisted that a $40k shoud not have rust on the rotor hubs. They cleaned them up and painted them with high temp epoxy paint - gray color. It's been over a year and it is holding up just fine.

this is what i would do...becasue i know someone at the dealer would get overspray on my car, so i would do it myself...
i don't have the space nor the time to spray and paint my hubs/calipers. He called back and said he would look into it further for me, so i hope they'll do something about it. kinda sucks
hope there is a tsb on it!

I had teh same issue, even though its isnt supposed to happen on the 2010's I sure as hell have rust on my rear rotors. I called the dealership and played innocent at first, and the service tech started treating me like I was stupid and said that all cars from Hondas to Rolls get rust on the rotors. I told him this is abnormal and he asked if I want to talk to his manager. I said yes of course
I stepped up my knowledge from ignorant to the real me which is automotive mechanic by hobby and aircraft mechanic by profession. I let him know that the rust on the rotors is abnormal and does not reflect the quality that Acura is trying to display. I let him know that a 40k dollar car should not have rust like my car does. He then said that knowing that I was an automotive mechanic that I must know what Im talking about and to bring the car down for them to check it.
My girlfriend took the car down their on a rainy day and they said they will remove the rotors, bust the rust, and repaint them free of charge. They also did the A1 service for her free of charge since the tech was being rude and condescending. I have to take the car down this week to get the rotors taken care of.
A little persistence goes a long way.

My dealer did the same thing that Kingmeow's did for him. There is not a TSB... You just have to tell them you are unhappy with it and a 40K car should not be doing that. They brushed off all of the rust and painted it all up with a high heat silver paint and everything looks brand new now and should stay that way. Point out that Acura fixed it for the 2010+ models, but there was a problem if there was a fix for them to implement it for 2010. They are not going to bring it to your attention unless it is something you bring to theirs since it does not affect safety or performance.
I painted them myself and painted the calipers black...its been like 5 months and holding up pretty good. If anyone decides to paint it themselves...Don't worry about over spraying on the rotors..it will come right off once you use the brakes. I used these for the spray.
All rotors and calipers rust with time. I have painted my rear calipers a few times and the paint usually get chipped off from little rocks. The dealership doesn't use a spray gun to re-paint your rotors. They remove you wheel while it's still in the air they paint brush the hubs of the rotors. Give it sometime and eventually that will fade, chip and will need repainting.
My suggestion is buying a dupi color caliper kit and paint brush it on yourself.

I Bitched, and Acura Canada replaced all four rotors in the spring. They are still rust free. I recommend calling corporate and tell them you are unhappy. I only complained for approximately 2 minutes before he called the dealer to have me come in for photos.
