Rattling Noise from 5 to 15 mph

Hi All,

2010 SH-AWD 6MT

Rattles like two metal rods are being hit against each other. doesnt matter if the road is bumpy or not. Only happens from 5 to 15 mph. Any ideas? Could it be my TPS? i am having a TPSM error once in a while.

It might be your heatshield on the cat converter, I'd check that. Try tapping it with the end of a broomstick or something to see if it's loose.

Agree with wreak. Likely your heat shield. Had my mechanic remove them.

I've had the heatsheilds removed on my old TSX due to it being loose and on my TL after a pebble got caught in it and rattled around. I'm willing to bet it's the culprit.

only thing i would question is how would a heatshield rattle practically everytime between 5 to 15mph?

My guess would be a loose TPMS. Jack each wheel up and give it a spin.

What a strange coincidence, I never even thought to mention that and it just happened to me 2 weeks ago, a TPMS broke off inside my wheel and was making a horrible noise, it took me a little while to figure it out too. A shitty local shop broke one of my sensors when installing my new Michelins.

lol it was all coming together. had a buddy of mine sot in the passenger seat to see where the noise was coming from while i try to replicate the noise and soon as he said it was coming from the front, i knew it was the tpms. I was throwing a TPMS error and only the Front Passenger did not register a PSI. glad its a simple fix!
