Rattles
My 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT has developed over the last few weeks a really annoying rattle. It's hard to nail down where it's coming from - from the back it sounds like it's in the front and vice-versa.
Is this a common Acura problem, or just mine, or a specific area? There's a reason I didn't buy a Subaru!

was it coming from the front passenger dashboard area? mine was like this last year during the summer, took it in to dealer, they couldn't pinpoint the exact area and then i just forgot about it, now i don't even hear them anymore.

I have 2 rattles in my 2010 TL SHAWD.
1. is coming from the front passenger door panel.. there was a part that came loose and is banging against the door.
2. there's one coming from the passenger side. not sure where, but it seems like its either from inside the door panel, or from the bottom of the passenger seat.
Either way this sucks because this is my first acura and first luxury car. What a horrible first impression. I hope it goes away as the weather warms up.
i'm at about 750 miles btw

No rattles here, still solid as a rock
My disastrous 09 Lexus IS I traded in for the TL developed an annoying driver's side rattle that was never resolved. So much for Lexus as a "luxury car."

Mine is very good except for a small rattle that I fixed myself in 2 minutes. There was a little plug that came loose on the bottom of the handle area on one of the back doors. I just plugged it back in and it was fine again.
If I wouldn't have been able to plug it back in, I would have just ripped it off, as it would never have been seen or noticed.
The car is nice and quiet for me.

I feel strongly both ways
11,000 miles and solid as a rock. I've owned M-B, BMW, Volvo (2), Lexus (3) over the years and the TL is the most rattle free, solid sounding of them all.
I kid you not. This thing is built like a friggin' tank!

The 4G is pretty solid as far as rattles go. I still have fairly low miles but have found nothing. The 3G TL wasn't too great in this area but that was mostly cleaned up with the TLS. I found most of the rattles in the past to come from dried seals and temporarily low tire pressure. A compressor and a can of silicon spray took care of them most of the times. Others seem to have come and gone on their own.
I have never been in or driven any car that I did not find to rattle at some point in time or under certain conditions, I don't care what it is. This car does not generally have rattle isues because this board would loook like the 3G section did in it's first year. All it was rattle issue posts but believe it or not they were pretty consistant in areas and locations and many members were able to get a fix or a simple resolution on their own, some others, not so lucky.

That's what I was referring to. I have driven lots of friends, family, aquaintances, and colleagues cars, not to mention various test drives and can find at least one rattle in all, even if only under certain conditions.

So far so good with my TL, but I have to say it's the most solid-feeling new car I've driven.
I agree re: all cars with rattles. I have two friends with S-Class MBs. You want to talk about rattle-traps.

I've got one that's making me lose my mind. It's this slight rattle that only happens on bumpy roads or during vibrations. It's in the front middle of the car somewhere and I cannot figure it out. It sounds like it's somewhere near the nav/controls area, or possibly near the rear view mirror/overhead controls. I can't figure out if it's worth dropping off with Acura or not.

No rattles in mine either almost 8k on it. At one point I thought I had one, it really was bugging me, turned out it was the sun glasses I put in the sun glasses holder up top ...

I have about 15K in mine. I also have an annoying rattle that comes from the sunglass holder when my sunglasses is in there. I think it needs to be lined better....maybe more foam?

exactly... I too have the rattle of the sunglasses in the sunglass holder... initially i thought that it was coming from the passengers side... When i asked the passanger, she heard to her left... finally figured out it was the sunglasses... Need to put some soft padding below the sunglasses so that it doesn't rattle...

I had a bad rattle in the sunglasses holder. Hard to find. Wasn't the glasses -- I took them out. It was the right hinge. Somehow it was missing a pad or clip, but it was looser than the left side. I brought it in when I had the A1 and they ordered a new holder and installed it. Two days in shop because they do not have many parts on hand, but a loaner makes everything OK. They found a clip that was not seated because it was bent during installation -- dealer was very appologetic. All fixed now and no more rattles.

I was rattle free for the first 3 months and then I had to have a bad XM receiver replaced. Since then I have had mysterious rattles mostly when cold. Although not perfect no where as bad as my 04 TL. Most of issues are usually the plastic area touching with the aluminum, like other poster said nothing is perfect, just be happy the suspension doesn't rattle like some new cars.

Earplugs don't block sound completely - they just lower the decibel level to a safer level to prevent hearing damage from loud engine drone and wind, particularly on my long 17 hour trips biannually. Its just like wearing a motorcycle or racing helmet. I can actually hear honking and emergency vehicle sirens and even music from the stereo better than without earplugs. Now what is dangerous is the people I see driving with their music headphones...

I'm actually surprised and lucky, of all my TLs my AWD is rock solid. The rear deck buzzes on rare occasion, but then what Honda doesn't. I hear a slight noise on occasion that may be comeing from front dash, but honestly it may be something in the glove box, happens so rare I have not bathered looking for it. For a year 1 Honda this car is amazingly tight!!! I have mine 13 months and 15K miles.

My driver's side has a rattle on certain road surfaces and it took me a while to pinpoint it: the seatbelt adjusting button is a little loose so sometimes it rattles. It's not loud/frequent enough for me to try to fix yet and I'm pretty OCD about these things. My Subaru drove me nuts with rattles!
Otherwise the TL has been rock solid now at 8k+

I spent 40k on this car and it started rattling in the rear side of the roof. I hated it. Got it fixed but now its coming from right above the driver side. I'm about to take it in again. I read a post up there that read, "THERE IS A REASON I DIDNT BUY A SUBARU" JEEZ!

~10 days old and at 300ish miles on the odometer and I'm starting to hear some rattling from the passenger front/dashboard/windshield corner area (I think). Ugh.
Will keep listening for it to try to figure out where it's coming from before taking it to the dealer (or maybe it'll go away) but it's annoying that it started happening... so soon.
It seems to happen only on the freeway at high speeds and usually when the road is uneven or when switching lanes and driving over the lane markers, etc.

My wife bought a new 2010 Acura TL and the passenger side of the center console squeaks and rattles. With only 500 miles on the car I took it back to the dealership to address this problem. They replace some trim on the console but it still makes noises. The squeaks sound like an old styrofoam ice cooler. It's not very loud, but just enough squeaking/popping sounds to bug me. My wife has leased her previous cars (BMW 3-series) and I never once complained about squeak in them. Five minutes in this car and I'm tapping all along the console trying to figure out where the squeaks are coming from.
Very frustrating.
