That noise is a problem on the 4th gen TL, I have an 09 and it makes the same noise. I think it comes from the back somewhere under the the rear seat. Im going to make an appointment to take the car in so they can look at it. Make sure you take your video as proof of the sound.

That sounded like a ticking sound? From what I just heard, it sounded just like what I had. If you search my old posts you'll see many lol. I finally found it was my passenger seat, underneath, towards the door side. It was a bad seat rail, and while the seat is empty it ticks. Drove me NUTS for months trying to figure it out. Took the car to my dealer, which is great. They def heard it, and replaced the entire seat frame, which was about 1500 part. Which is also the part that has the air bag detectors on it for the passenger seat. That solved the problem. I think they already knew about it, because they answered, and solved it instantly lol. Let me know.

Also, on mine, if I unbolted the seat from the front, the sound would stop. Thats when I knew it was something on the rail

I wonder why when someone complains here, we provide answers, and they never come back again. Such a waste sometimes to even provide answers.

I just got my new 2010 tl Sh-awd last month (pre-owned). I have found a similar problem, even the previous owner mentioned this problem to me.

I went to the dealer, grabbed the technician to drive with me, and showing the video above to him. We were able to pinpointed the source. On my problem it is located at the very right corner of the door. Close where the glovebox and the "vertical" door handle meet. This is the 2nd day my car has been in the dealer. They said they will put some kind of felt insulation to reduce the noise. I'll put an update as soon I get my car back.

I got my car back from the dealer last week. They said that they could not "replicate" the noise, despite me and the technician drove together and found the source. However what they did was reduce my front tires from 37psi to 32psi.
Surprisingly the rattle was gone for couple days.

When it came back, I traced the sources, and found the culprit.

It is the passenger instrument panel that is posted at this link below, part number #11
https://www.oemacuraparts.com/index....RUMENT%20PANEL

Last night I drove the car without that specific panel lid, and there was no rattle whatsoever. I am pretty sure that was the culprit.

Just now, I took it off, and put bunch of sticky felt insulation thingy that I use all the time to fix rattle on old tsx. I haven't driven it, but I'll keep you posted.

so i called the dealership to confirm that i could get a loan on friday but they didnt have any; so i've decided to wait until i need an oil change and just have them look at the rattle then.. however the rattle from the passenger door is completely gone; what i've noticed now is a rattle from the center console area which is most noticeable when i'm listening to talk radio (BBC on XM especially). and also the speaker on the drivers side back door sounds funny at times; also only during talk radio... either way the dealership is not close to me; so i'm just going to wait until i need the oil change... my question is that could that center console rattle be related to this:

I do agree with this.
I took it off at one point as well and re-seated it. Less rattling since then.

Acura had some faulty speakers in the 09-11. So maybe they still didn't learn and put the same crap into the 2012?

But those gaps there might be indeed their "solution"? I have to check on my TL.

I drove my car today in my commute, and the rattle is completely gone! I love sticky felt insulation thingy.
omarlt, I also occasionally hear rattle close do the driver back side door. Again i have 19'', so mine is little bit more sensitive to uneven roads. I have 2010 model btw.
The previous owner told me that it is the plastic cover inside the interior door handle sometime moves, he put a bit of felt inside. That happened on my 06 tsx as well.

as for the center console, sometimes I hear a little cricketing. very very minor. it happens when I put my blackberry on "not an astray" tray.

no, it seems to have gotten better with the cold weather; and my dealership is about 45 mins away. i'm at 40% oil life now so should need oil change soon, and i'll just have them check it then; dont want to make two trips. i'm honestly not expecting anything because i doubt i'll be able to replicate it. however the annoying rattle from the center stack (only when i'm listening to talk radio) can be reproduced regularly so i'll see what they say. i'll update when i go

So I finally went for my a1 service. Of course the rattle from the passenger side is not as obvious due to the cold weather. However I looked at other tls on the lot and none had the gaps that I have in my center console trim. And I also noticed that my drivers side visor was loose; causing a rattle. They ordered a new visor and trim pieces and I will have them installed friday

I am also experiencing the elusive "rattle from the passenger door area". In my case, the noise seems to be more pronounced in the cold weather.

ya i figured it out by trading my car in. acura cannot compete in the luxury market (or near luxury ) until they can at least build a rattle free car..

they attempted to change out the trim pieces a few times, couldnt replicate some rattles, and i finally just gave up on them. they tried their best but the car is just not well-put together from the factory and the service guys can only do so much.. annoying rattles are one thing that absolutely drive me crazy

Ok, mine is a 2010, and I've got a similar sound albeit with a lower frequency (Goes tap... tap... tap... instead of tap, tap, tap). The only difference is that mine only does it when I have a passenger in that front seat.

My passenger side is quiet. However I do have a rattle noise on the drivers side that seems to come from where the seatbelt comes out. But its only when my music is up loud.

Sorry you had a problem with your car, but to say Acura can't compete in the luxury or near luxury market because some of their cars have rattles is a bit of an overstatement. I've ridden in relatively new MBs (including S Class) and BMWs that have been absolute rattle traps. I've also driven/ridden in pretty pedestrian cars from volume manufacturers that have been relatively rattle free. These are mass-produced vehicles containing a lot of parts. Rattles are sadly inevitable in a certain percentage of the production run.

Same rattle for me as the OP. I have found it for a long time where it s coming from. It's the door handle and the trim on the door near of the glove box. Make someone press on the handle towards the outside and the sounds stop right away. I have put some paper inside the gap and it's stopped the noise.

So, I was able to track down a slight rattle in the passenger side. It wasn't so much a rattle but more of a ticking. It ended up being the piece of aluminum looking trip over the glove box door. To test to see if yours is the culprit, put pressure on various sections of it while you hear the noise. If it goes away with pressure, then that is your issue. I unsnapped mine and stuck some leftover Dynamat on the back side of it.
