Post Problems/issues w/ your TL

today heard the rear window shelf make just a little but not quite a rattle w/ a song w/ some bass (not a lot of bass or volume was in use at the time) - other wise rattle free
seems to be only that one song out of many others all at reasonable volume

This is a good idea, it will probably be a sticky! Mods, can you please merge my steering column post to this thread to keep continuity. Gracie'!

The vibrations are definitely there CRXB, my back window rattles on every sub note. I put a soft cloth liner inside the eyeglass compartment as my sunglasses were rattling as well.

My defrost doesn't work so well, I took a drive at night along PCH and I had to leave it on high to keep the windows clear. The back had the hardest time.

The USB port in the center console doesn't always recognize media whether it's my iPhone or a USB flash drive. And the USB flash drive is formatted properly.

PetesTL When I drove a loaner I noticed on the front side where the fender meets the bumper (the "L" shape gap below the turn signal) the fender stuck out from the bumper.

Yeah, I hate that seam in the front bumper/fender.....it looks terrible and makes it look cheap. Acura could've made that look a lot better.

Yeah well the 3G was worse. My Type-S is going back for 3rd time for back deck they keep making it worse. I had to have them screw down my 04 TL and pad every one I have owned except my 06. The loaner 4G they gave me rattled a bit, you would think after all this thay coudl secure a back deck well enough.

As I read these complaints, rear deck, bumper alignment and gaps and the misaligned grill it is funny I have had every one of those on my various 3G TLs. Does Honda not learn as they go along? It is the one thing that drive me away form tem. When I bought this Type-S I went through 5 cars trying to find one that did not have blatantly obvios trunk lid, grill or bumper alignment issues on top of one that have bad leather drivers seat. Are most people just that forgiving or not caring that the QA sucks this bad. As I look at other make cars I don't see nearly the same number of issues and I do look over their inventory. Honestly I love the seams and gap alingments on the Infiniti G, every one I look at looks perfect.

Deck Rattle

The apple doesn't fall from the tree- The new Accord sedan and coupe have back deck buzzes and rattles. Almost every new owner is complaning. Honda has a TSB on it.

Same rattle on my 2007 TL, even at low level, medium sub adjustment. Especially on XM channels

IMO - if these are your biggest complaints, give me a Honda/Acura any day of the week. I'd rather have a car with a 'misaligned' seam than one that has mechanical failures.

FYI - no rattles or misalignment problems here. Seats so far are holding up but definitely will need to be conditioned well.

CleanCL - correct minor issues, the misaligned seam was not even my car but just on a Loaner.
-so far as mech failures - what kept me from closing the deal on a BMW
My 3G TL never let me down

Hey CL, you're sure right, however I'm still happy despite these issues! Complaint sounds kinda harsh, everyone has issues with cars, don't they?, so we'll bring them up here in this thread.

I have 2 complaints right now:
-When I press certain buttons on the steering wheel or in center stack, depending on what menu I am on, there is a delay or sometimes I don't press the button hard enough.

-When in the trip area in the MID, and you want to reset the gas mileage/etc if you are on Mileage Tracker A or B, it resets that too. I like to track my gas mileage with A, and I reset the gas mileage average while on a highway and it reset A as well.

Ah the MID is a good one to rethink for Acura for the future. I have a hard time seeing my MID as I'm tall and like my steering wheel low. So I have to "scooch" down to see it which is not safe. The setup for the MID is mediocre, with weak fonts. I'd like to see the outside temp, odometer, MPG average gauge, and trip meter all in one display. Toggling through is cumbersome. However, I am grateful that they included this feature, just a fine tune is my suggestion.

Also, when pulling in the garage to park, I want to shut the engine off but keep the power to listen to music as I upload stuff, how do you do that without going through the cycle, as the navigation system restarts it interrupts my source?

I know it is not a huge deal, but I mean they have been fighting this issue sine the 3G TL so you woudl think they coudl fasten a deck better 5 years later. I picked up screws and screw caps and will let them screw down the deck in my 08 Type-S. I may try another dealer as the service guys at Jackson Acura in ATL are not the best.

Anyone notice that water from the roof drips on the windshield? This is kind of annoying. This is when I'm parked on a flat (relative to the earth) surface. I would think it should drip into the roof gutter.

Rattle in the rear deck is definitely an issue that they should have fixed by now but I'd rather have that than major mechanical failures. As long as the engine, transmission, AC and electrical components live a mostly trouble free life I'm good. I'll deal with a few mis alignments here and there. Some of you people in here are just ridiculously anal and sound like a dealer's worst nightmare. Running back and crying to mommy everytime you notice the slightest variation in your supposedly perfect car. Come on guys live in the real world already. YOUR CAR WILL NEVER BE PERFECT. And if you think it's so easy to make perfection try going in to the car building business and see how it works out for you.

The only issue I've had so far is that the sun roof is rattling a little. I only hear it on slow side roads. Not a big concern but will have the dealer look at it the next time I'm there.
Had a similar issue with my 04TL and they actually had to replace a piece. It was in a TSB.

Mine (built 12/08) has 3 issues.

1) Clicking noise on steering wheel. (Posted in another thread.)

2) Creaking noise from gear shifter console area while accelerating or decelerating.

3) Bumper colors don't really match up with body color, under certain lighting condition. Mine is royal blue color.

I haven't fixed any of the above issues, as I took delivery about a month ago.

Otherwise I love the car (TL Tech with upgraded 18" wheels). It looks great and drives pretty good.

I managed to get rid of the squeak in the shifter console panel by using a black 3/4" self-adhesive vinyl strip. A cheap 79 cents fix.

Moonroof wiggles around a bit when its closed and squeaks against the seals, eventually it settles down and stops making noise. Gonna have it checked out at next service.

windshield fluid nozzle stopped working after I got my car for a month and a half. However, the headlamp washer stills work, just the windshield gets no fluid when I pull the trigger with my headlamp on.

Got it fixed by my dealer..

Slight gap in fit of new rear bumper cover.

I replaced my rear bumper cover and rear lower spoiler packeage just this week after backing into something. Still can't get use to the idea I have a rear camera and use it.I have only one problem:There is now a larger gap than before in the seam between the wheel well and the rear lights. I stopped by a dealer nearby late last night to compare it to one on the lot. Mine is about 1/8" gap and you can see the clips. The newer cars on the sales lot have a slight gap but not as much. I am going to stop by the body shop that painted my new bumper cover and get their opinion. Perhaps since the original cover was pulled to put in the ground effects at the dealer when I bought it last December and I again pulled it to replace the cover the plastic part secured under the bumper cover that it slots/clips into has worn a bit. Or maybe I could have adjusted it up a bit to provide a tighter fit. Does anyone her have experience with this? I am just new here and cannot post photos yet.

Same issue here - both sides have a larger gap then originally was there, and my body shop even replaced the black bracket behind that holds the bumper cover.

He said he is going to try and shave the black bracket down a bit to see if it the bumper will fit higher and worse case put some screws in to tighten the fit.

I am going to him in a few weeks - I added some pics somewhere too but forgot the thread, let me see if I can find it.

If you figure out a fix, please let me know!!!

I bought a 2007 Acura TL on auction. From the picture it seemed like the only thing the car needed is the front bumper. When I came to pick up the car I saw that it had undercarriage damage, that means that the engine cradle needs to be replaced, the engine belt is rubbing against something...I don't know what. I looked up engine cradle costs $1500, not to mention the car most likely needs a minor frame pull. I had to unlock the trans because it was locked, so the car drives, but I'm afraid that there might be potential for tranny damage. Does anyone have experience restoring cars? Is it worth restoring this car and how much approx will it cost? Or should I take this car back to the auction and have them sell it? Another thing is since the car has this serious damage there might be potential for problems to occur in the future. :/ I really like the car though.

Jett, welcome to Acurazine. If you indeed purchased a 2007 TL, your car is a 3rd Generation TL. You posted in the 4th Generation community. So let me refer you to the 3G community here.

Thank you!

I haven't had any of these issues, but, I just found out today that if the battery is (supposedly) dead, you can't get into your vehicle. >.< anyone know if there is a way other than contacting the dealership, to get in?
