No power and strange acelerator problem
No power and strange acelerator problem
We are experiencing some problems with the 2012 TL SHAWD.
The trip down to florida was okay, I felt the car was down on get up and go but, okay none the less.
Twice now it has lost all power momentarily going around a corner! Once in Canada before we left and again today. I also had some difficulty starting it , long crank yesterday. Today after a little "no go" episode I went down to garage to see if any codes were showing but when I went to start the car it rev,d to about 6000 rpm and I shut it off immediately. Incidentally, Foot was not even close to accerator, I restarted again and it seems okay. scary!
Any ideas what It could be, the car seems slow and no torque off the line and has burned some oil, not very much, about 1/2 litre. Am getting concerned about the car. Anyone had similar experiences?
Cheers

The car is still relatively brand new. The engine has to be broken in (around 3500-5000) is the time where the engine starts to putting out its best performance. Try opening it up on the highway as well. Nothing like a little more fuel to oxygen ration to open things up!
did u figure out the issue? sounds like a loose connection or bad connection at either the throttle body, or at the accelerator pedal. but usually the CEL would illuminate. All honda/acuras are now equipped with a new system, Brake Overide, where if the computer see's input from the Gas pedal, and then an input from the Brake pedal, it will automatically cut off throttle plate opening, so usually drivers who tend to drive with 2 feet(automatic) rest there feet on the brake pedal, the vehicle acts as if it has no power. considering you explained how the engine rev'd up with your foot no where near the gas pedal, i would assume its a communication issue between the accelerator postion sensor, the throttle plate postion sensor, and the ecu. hope it all gets figure out and you can tell us what happend...
