I advise against IJDM modified Daytime Running Lights
Today I had to completely remove the IJDM Daytime Running Lights from my 2010 TL for safety reasons.
Here is the kit name:
Xenon White 9005 HB3 LED Daytime Running Light Bulbs + DRL Decoder Kit For Acura TL TSX RDX MDX ZDX
I barely drive this car maybe 4 times max a month, had them installed at most 6 months. Today, my DRL warning came on and my IJDM's were not lit up. I popped the hood and found the passenger side socket plug was melting! If I jiggled where the factory socket plug meets the IJDM kit, the LED lights would flicker. I inspected the passenger plug and it had the early stages of melting the pin sockets and could eventually cause a fire! :-(
Yet another aftermarket mod that I advise against. I'll stop short at calling it a junk mod, but beware that you are trusting an aftermarket vendor to choose the right resistors (circuit heat strain) to make this work. Those inline orange resistors get mighty hot too so I made the decision to just rip out this kit.
I would advise anyone who's installed this kit, to periodically check your plugs for signs of melting if you want to continue using them.
