HELP: check VSA, brake and AWD lights

Was just about to head out on a long drive to MD and I see check lights on my dashboard. Check VSA. Check ABS. Check AWD system. The messages screen shows VSA alarm codes 12 and 18 as well as AWD alarm code 77.

I park my car in a mechanics lot and the guy had moved the car to clean snow. It was in an icy ditch. He assured me once I start driving around the lights will clear. It did. Good.

But my concern is, what did he actually do to my car to trigger these messages? Did he over rev my engine? Could he have caused damage to my drive train?? He assures me he didn't. Should I get it checked out at dealer? I'd assume alarms will show up if there was stress to systems. Am I overreacting?

Anybody had this same issue come up? Thanks in advance.

Over reving your engine won't send your ABS light on. ABS can come on for a number of reasons.

Personally if I was uncomfortable with my car seeing as those lights came on I would take it to a dealer who works on TL's all the time over a Mechanic that's only touched the car once or twice.

Got to remember also that he could've taken your car for a drive but you would never know.

Sorry I prob didn't make clear. He didn't go take car out for a joyride. He was moving it out of an snow and ice. I never asked him to do it but I guess he wanted to clean his lot.

sounds like snow/ice/dirt covered up one of the wheel speed sensors causing the ecu to not pick up the signal from it tripping the light

I'm having the same issue. The dealership told me that my purge valve solenoid is bad, causing the Check Emissions light to come on. "Being that an Emission issue could be serious the system triggers a bunch of other codes in hopes that the driver will bring in the car ASAP." As for my Check AWD System indicator, I was told that the AWD computer module is failing. "The AWD system itself is fine, but as a "precautionary" action, the AWD stops working when the indicator comes on, as not to damage the AWD."

The cost to repair both modules is $1,550! :a ngryfire:

For a 2012 you should still have some warranty left, no? If you can go to another dealer, please do. Somehow the info you got from them doesn't add up.

Unfortunately, my warranty is up....high miles! Before my warranty ran out, I took it to them complaining about these issues. I kept getting the run around and fake fixes to the problem. Amazingly, when I hit 50k, they found the real issue. So now, I'm left to pay to get it fixed.

At this point, I have no choice but to pay out of pocket.

How long ago were the quick fixes applied to the car? I would fight this and call Acura corporate and let them no the issues. I hope you kept all of your paperwork from the quick fixes. You should be able to get this covered if you have enough paperwork backing you and you say the right things to corporate.

Collect all the evidence you have, all the records you have and contact Acura corporate, open a file and let them make a decision. It is important to explain to them the sequence of events that took place. These days with all the competition breathing down their throat it is better for them to spent a couple thousand dollars to fix your car instead of losing you to infinity or lexus for life.

Thanks, I have all the paperwork since day one. I'll call them back on Monday and do what you suggested. Hopefully it doesn't drag out.
