Ghost in the Machine, Please help, Presets Cancel themselves

Hello All

I have had my 2011 TL for about a week, and in that time i have subscribed to XM and set my presets

I have also got my seat and mirrors where i want and stored these preferences in "seat memory #1" on the door

this morning i attempted to get in the car but the seat was too far forward, i moved it back and got in, started and began driving

my second indication of a problem was that the mirrors were moved, i put it in park and pushed seat-1 on the door, the seat and mirrors promptly went to their set location...... but all the radio presets are gone, the sync button was lit so i turned it off and still no luck, the radio presets seem to be permanently gone

before you say "read the manual" i skimmed it and was unable to find anything about an "overnight deletion of presets" feature which activates weekly

did the car reset to some factory default mode?..... i did not change the battery, or lift hood.... just parked it overnight

any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers
John in Fargo

there was a momentarily loss of power, which reset all of your settings.

sometimes, the battery will corrode the battery terminals and associated wires. Check them to see if they are tight and corrosion free!

OK so I called the Acura Dealer, the service rep asked me if i switched key fobs....... i had not but apparently switching fobs would cause this as presets are tied to the fobs

the girlfriend confessed to having put the other fob in her purse in case she "needs" to drive my car...... she walks between both of our cars to get into her car

the guy at Acura says her purses close proximity to my door as she walked by unlocked the car with her fob just before i got in and drove

I tested this theory and walked out to my car just now and got in, started it and all my presets are there

I have since confiscated the 2nd fob to prevent this from occurring again, and to reduce the likelihood that she will drive my car

Funny story but something doesn't sound right. If you get in the car with your remote the presets should be as you set them for that remote regardless if the other remote was used (or passed by) before.

Do you trust her with the family jewels?

yes it's seems off that the car wouldn't recognize my fob which is in the car and just use my settings, she must have walked past my car at just the right moment for it to use her fob.... I was moving some stuff from the back of her car to the trunk of the TL and somehow the car got confused, weird

Well, yes i trust her with the "jewels" as you put it.... but my concern with her using my car is that she will put country music on my radio and possibly even preset them...... I just can't allow that to happen

You shouldn't have to reprogram your presets if your programed your seat settings via the button by the door handle.
Press the bottom button and then button 1 or 2 that corresponds with the remote.
It should save your seat position, side-view mirror positions, and radio presets.

The button only saves the seat settings. The FOB determines which driver is starting the car. When on the Infotainment warning screen you'll see the driver # at the bottom left. Switching the seat-presets doesn't change the driver number. You have to either unlock the car with that FOB or start the car with the FOB inside the key slot for that FOB to become the active driver.
