I have a 2012 TL SH-AWD and my front seat bolster is peeling! What is bizarre is it is not where you would think, it is in the arm bolster on the RIGHT side of the driver seat. the material actually may be vinyl, not leather, as usually just the seating surface is leather, but my question to the community is anyone else experiencing this? Have you gotten satisfaction at the dealer?

Thanks!
mine is ripped in that exact spot. Haven’t really done anything about it yet..
Yep, I'm in the same boat too. Driver's seat, exact same spot, a bit of leather is missing.
I also haven't gotten around to doing anything about it. I just figured I'd eventually need to either buy an aftermarket seat cover or spend the $600 for the OEM seat back cover.
Doesn't look perfect, but it's acceptable in person. It stopped the peeling, and everything is all the same color. It has held up for over 4 months, through the winter so far.
Doesn't look great on camera, looks fine in person.
Still no satisfaction from the dealer. They consider it a wear item. I am considering sending pictures to Acura Corporate. Im sure that will fall on deaf ears also.......
Same thing is happening to my 2013 Tech with 60k Miles. I thought I was the only one. My girlfriend’s 2008 Nissan Maxima has 90k miles and her black leather seats are flawless and better quality. I’m disappointed in the quality of leather Acura has.

ugh this has happened to me as well! I’m so frustrated! I have a 2010 TL with 125,000 miles on it- my seats are tan so I’m a little skeptical about attempting to patch them but o may have to. I’ve been very disappointed with the quality of the Acura leather. I really like the new MDX but I do not want to have the same issue!

Hopefully the quality of Acura/Honda’s leather has improved for their newer model cars. I’ll be mounting winter tires next Saturday and the dealer is gonna give me a loaner. Could be a TLX I’ll judge the quality of leather and see if they improved.
Exact same spot on my '12 TL front driver seat. I didn't even notice it when buying the car, saw it a couple weeks later. I thought it was my jacket maybe because it has non-functional zippers around where my arm is but I'm glad it wasn't my doing.
Well guys here’s my 2019 Acura TLX loaner. The seats are a much better quality than our 4G TL’s. They are more comfortable and the leather looks to be more durable.
Chiming in, Mine, exact same spot. Perhaps if we rlaly enough they will extend the warranty to fix it. Ive seen it done for more trivial parts like dome lights....
I am, as we speak trying to find a fix. Every professional is suggesting to simply replace it due to its location (at the seam). And why on earth does a replacement seat cover cost so damned much?!

I still have not come up with a solution and it is now quite a bit worse. I went to 3 dealers, and have written an email to Acura (no response)
I will admit, I haven't tried lately, mostly out if frustration. If anyone gets satisfaction other than spending $500, I'd love to hear it!
When I purchased my car it had that, they snapped off the back portion of the seat and replaced it with matching leather. Unfortunately the plastic snaps broke off and the back panel came off, just need plastic connectors and snap it back in. Will provide pics I. The morning

The red thread was used by the Upholsterer but he didn’t take the time to snap in the plastic tabs correctly since it was a rush job. I’m going to order more tabs and try to fix the rear panel myself.
That exact thing happened to my 2009 SH. I guess I am lucky because they replaced it at the Acura in Orlando under warranty. This happened when my car had around 45000 miles. Than after a year or so it happened again and again they replaced the drivers side. The third time it happened my car was out of warranty.
These spots are not leather. It’s cheap thin vinyl. What I ended up doing is taking it to an upholster and had them redo the entire thing. This time I bought the leather and had them make the entire thing with leather, no more vinyl.
I am very disappointed with the quality of the materials on these cars. The car drives good and I have never had any issues other than an alternator and a battery. But the seats have ripped (a couple of times), the center console armrest lost its cushion somehow, the cup holder cover broke, the emblem on the steering wheel is peeling, most of the weatherstripping on the outside has deteriorated (have replaced it a couple of times and is already deteriorating again), the vinyl on the front door panels is all wrinkled, the headliner was sagging down. All of this, and I really take care of the car. I can imagine the issues if I didn’t.
Nearly every 2009-2014 TL and TSX I've seen for sale used do this... 8G Accords too. IDK what it is, but it's kind of dumb to have a problem with that.
Does anyone happen to know of where I can find instruction on how to remove and install the leather seat covers in out 2009-20174 ACura TL seat covers?
I found a couple options through a google search, it just depends on how much you’re willing to spend and how much you want them to look original. Mine is so bad at this point I just want to protect them from further damage and from looking disgusting! I found some for about $400 that are the closest looking to factory at carid.com. I will attach a screenshot because I couldn’t figure out how to attach the link. Sorry! I’m new here
I also found options on amazon.
This is my seat, I have a 2010 TL with 57,100 miles and have taken very good care of. This has been going on for long enough that Acura should have been able to resolve this issue 10 times over! I’ve never seen anything like this and am horribly disappointed in them for letting it ride. There aren’t even a comparable number of Honda’s with this issue!
Seems to be holding up pretty well, and looks way better than it did. Not distinguishable from the outside, and while I'm sitting in it, my arm tends to block most of it anyway. I definitely think this was a "good enough" solution before I decide to drop the money for another OEM seat cover.
Awesome, thank you! Mine got so much worse over the summer; it started flaking off if it was too windy. So I just recently started resting my arm over it to cover up when I’m driving. Do you think that item is big enough to cover the damage on my seat too, or I would need more than one? I don’t know how I missed that when I searched but thanks so much for sharing!

How much did that end up costing for the reupholstery and how much of the interior did you get done?
