E-brake lever loose
i recently picked up a 2010 tl and it seems that my e brake lever wobbles side to side, took it to the dealer and they didnt know what to tell me other than it wasnt covered under warranty
just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this or has had this issue before?
or how i can take apart the console to fix it myself
thanks

Start by removing the side console trim, from the bottom towards the top using a "trim removal kit" (google that to see what I mean). Acura calls it "KTC trim tool set". It is just a plastic pry bar... look in your kitchen! LOL.
Remove both sides, on the driver's side you'll have to disconnect the start/stop button harness. Don't forget to re-connect it when you put it back on... otherwise you ain't gonna go far !
That will expose 2 screws on each side, at the height where the small cubby in the center is. Take those off. Then you'll need to use a flat-tipped screwdriver wrapped with protective tape to pry the edge of the shift lever trim and carefully take that off too. You'll probably need to move the shift lever to N to pull that trim out. Then pry out the shift panel and then the bigger part that is the center console panel.
There are clips all over the place that usually fall off. Fishing them from under the panels may be tricky. If you can see them but can't reach them, get a telescopic magnet. Also there are harness connectors underneath all these panels that need to be disconnected. Careful! Better disconnect the battery too before all that to avoid any shorts. Also get electrical tape to mask areas that you may scratch, and keep all tools you use away from that area to avoid an accidental scratch.
Hope that helps to remove the center console panel. Now as far as the lever wobbling goes, well, there are 4 bolts that hold down that e brake. You be lucky if that is the problem and you just have to tighten them down if they are loose. Otherwise the e brake may be loose from the center piece or some other funny looking bolt on the body of that e brake is broken, damaged, loose etc. In that case and if you can't get it tight or replace just a bolt or fastener etc, you may have to change the entire e brake level assembly.
Have fun, safety first.
