The instrument lights (multi information display, Nav display, speedometer, tac, etc.) are very dim when in a daylight environment, even with the instrument brightness control turned to the max. It is fine at a lower light environment (i.e. evening or night). It didn't start doing this until several years ago. I realize the car is 14 yrs. old but these are LED lights which I believe are either ON or OFF. Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?.

 

Perhaps the ambient light sensor that controls which "level" the interior lights are on has broken? Around this time of year when I leave the office, it's very dim and cloudy out and as I drive down the highway the interior lighting gets confused and sometimes flip-flops between day and night time brightness levels.

 

Can you take a picture of it so someone can compare it? I have a 2009 TL and so far so good....
