Cleaning AT Solenoids?

I saw a few threads about cleaning the mesh filters on AT solenoids. It looks like it's pretty straightforward. Saw one about the Prelude and 2nd gen TL. Does anyone know if the 4th gen TL has a similar mesh filter on it's solenoids and if cleaning them as preventative maintenance is a good idea? My tranny is running fine - as good as the day I purchased the car @ 60K miles (now have 125K). However, if it's something that can be done to help shifting or make the AT last longer, I'd like to do it. But I'm not sure if this is similar on all Honda AT's or if ours works differently for some reason.

I'll do a bit more research but if anyone knows anything about this feel free to chime in

All Pressure A/B and C Solenoids will have a filter. No need to clean those filters if your trans is not acting up.

04-06 have a service able trans filter.

Best thing anyone can do for their trans is to change 100% of the ATF. I like to use the Mighty Vac 7400 because it's done through the dip stick under the hood only. No crawling under the car.

I can exchange 8 quarts in a hour by changing 2 quarts at time, total of 8 quarts (Acura/Honda). Vacuum out as much as the trans will allow to save time.

1. Vacuum out about 2 quarts and add in 2 quarts. Car off not running.

2. Idle the car for about 50 seconds. Shift through each gear... P, R, N, 5-1 with 15 seconds in between each gear.

3. Repeat n rinse #1 & 2 untill ATF is clean or tran's ATF capacity.

Trans will run notice ably smoother.

OP, sorry I misread you original post.

4g TL

09-2011 have the Pressure Solenoids and screens but no service able external trans filter.

12-2014 Does not have the traditional Pressure A/B & C Solenoids. Instead it uses a bank of solenoids and pressure switches. Underneath the bank of solenoids and switches appears to be screens but purly an educated guess.

12-2014 have an external inline service able trans filter located below the trans.

The 100% ATF exchange would still apply since it's through the trans dip stick. There is a trans fill hole that's cap off with a 17mm bolt on top of the trans.

Thanks for the info. I'm religious about ATF but I haven't done a 100% change. I did the 3x3 when I first purchased the car and do a drain and refill (~3.5L) every time I change the oil, between 8K-10K miles. I've also changed the inline filter three times in 60K miles.

I'll have to look into the 100% flush. There's a indy shop specializing in Honda's here in SLC that does it.

I agree. I decided not to mess with it. Everything's working great so I'm going to leave well enough alone.

I did the solenoid filter clean about 2 years ago on my ex-gf's 2007 Accord V6. They didn't need it ... they were clean.
