You know that almost every modern automobile won't start without a correct, transponder-equipped key, right?

yes, i believe the transponder keys started in 2004 or something.

well since your in the 4g TL forums.. i believe you have a 4g tl then.. lol

you dont need anti-theft.. the car has enough already.

plus it would be stupid for someone to steal a 4gtl.. you cant really take anything that is needed in the market world.. what are they going to take??? your seats??? its not no jdm civic or anything.. no headunit to take.. etc..

if you worry about your belongings in the car such as cell phone, or laptop.. stop worrying! if they want to steal it, they will... they just need to break your windows.

4G TL theft (stealing the car) requires either having the key FOB or else having a wrecker - and yes, some have been stolen with the aid of a wrecker, but it's rare. Best way to prevent "theft by tow truck" is park it somewhere that a wrecker can't easily get to. According to my dealer (neighbor), recently a few have also been picked up this way by the repossessor when the buyer suddenly finds himself out of a job and is 3 months behind on the payments.

If you want better security for your 4G TL, turn OFF the keyless-start-and-entry feature.

It has been reported on CNN that auto thieves recently are using off-the-shelve scanners and transmitters as a radio-frequency repeater, in order to steal automobiles equipped with keyless-entry-and-start systems.

Since the TL keyfob is transmitting a signal all the time similar to all other keyless systems, this repeater will pick up even a weak keyfob signal, then amplify and re-transmit the copied signal just like the genuine keyfob.

So, once the auto thieves see that the car owner is walking away out of visual range, they go right up to the car with the keyfob signal repeater. Since the repeater is repeating the real keyfob signal, the thieves can open the doors and drive away the car as if they have the real keyfob with them.

Or, just make sure you're current on payments, and don't worry about someone trying to come "steal" it.
