Center armrest tears

so i hop into my car this morning and find a tear on the armrest (drivers side on the left of the pullout cell phone drawer). has anyone had their armrest tear on them yet? and if so, do any of you know if warranty would cover replacing/fixing it? by the way i own a 09 base and live in CA. any advice would do before i go over to the dealership to get it resolved. thanks!

Does it look like the tear happened along a seam? If so, it would make it easier to make your case for it to be repaired under warranty.
