Blown Speaker Already?

I just picked up my 2009 CPO TL last Saturday. While driving home last night my right front speaker started popping like it was blown. I was listening to XM and have not been able to duplicate the sound. Could this be a blown speaker or just a one time issue with XM?

Also have a musty odor coming from the vents that the dealer will hopefully be able to fix.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The speakers are notorious for blowing. Acura will replace them with a revised model that should not have the defect. Panasonic ELS is junk.

I would recommend to replace them anyways. Try some infinity references, they sound great.

After washing my car it gets the musty smell as well.

X2 on replacing the stock speakers with Infinity Reference. Here's how I installed mine.

Blown Speaker Already?

Currently having the front right speaker replaced by the dealer. Hopefully I won't have issues with the other speakers. Thanks for the input.

My car's still at the dealer because they can't figure out what the dilio is. My driver side speaker was sounding as if it was blown. At low volumes it would just go thump rattle thump rattle thump rattle like a blow speaker. They replaced it and new speaker does the exact same thing.

My guess is a bad channel on the amp but I'll let them figure it out.

Same with mine, I have a 09/Tech. At first I thought it was the quality of my music. Figure paying for the Premium sound, it should at least let you bump it.

I'm having the same issue. I'm taking it in on Tuesday. I had 04' TL and never had any problems. In my 04' I was also running 2 10in JL Audio subs with a 500 watt amp. Weird.

I've had this issue with two separate 2009s as well as my 2012 --- it's always the right front. I'll have 'em replace it as often as necessary, but this is definitely a common issue.

Yep, dealer actually replaced BOTH of mine even though they had replaced the driver side a year and 1/2 ago.

RDX has a blown rear passenger, but I just don't care anymore.

I have the same issue with my 09 TL. Front passenger speaker rattles at low volumes which is annoying because I'm big on music in the car. I even moved the speakers more to the left side to try and minimize the rattled sound to no avail.

Does anyone know if they fit it for free if you have an aftermarket warranty by ASE? I think mine has a $100 minimum to repair anything. I also have the clunk noise from my steering column and wanted to see if they'd replace two birds with one stone.

Thanks for any responses.

I had the same issue. The dealer swapped it out under the factory warranty and the system has been fine since.
