AC Running All The Time?

![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Perhaps someone can answer my question: Does the the AC run all the time the TL is running?
I have searched the manual and think that Acura has got the system set so that it's always running, mostly for dehumidification. FWIW, I generally have the HVAC system set on "AUTO" so might expect that it would always attempt to keep the set temperature level and (perhaps) humidity level in the interior.
Symptoms: 1) at a stoplight, I can feel the cycling of the compressor; and 2) gas mileage jumps up when I shut off the entire HVAC system.
If anyone has knowledge and/or ideas about this, I'd like to hear them.
TIA - JG

^^ Mine does that too. I think the default is to have it on...I always make sure I press the on/off button to make it sure I deactivate the AC.

In "Auto", the A/C is constantly running. The computer controls the "air mix door" that functions to regulate the amount of ice-cold (A/C) air and hot (engine) air being let through and mix together, according to the preset temp as selected by the occupancies.
The only way to turn off the A/C is to press the A/C button, until "A/C off" is shown on the HVAC display.

Thanks to All Respondents
Y'know, I used to be a trained investigator, but somehow the clearly-marked "A/C" button on the lower right of my center stack completely escaped my notice. I just now walked out to the driveway, got in and looked. Jeez, what a dummy I am. Thank you again to all who straightened me out about this!
FWIW, for years I have used the expression: "Lights on...nobody home." Now it applies to me.
