2013 TL Torque Converter Issues?
2013 TL Torque Converter Issues?
Hi all,
I have a 1.5 year old 20k mile TL with the auto (June 13 Purchase). Under decent throttle input (shifting above 3-5k) the front of the car seems to have a vibration under acceleration. Kind of like wheelspin, but I know there isn't and like an out of balance tire but their isn't.
It ends as soon as I let up on the power or use less power. It almost feels like something is grabbing all the way through 1st and 2nd gear.
Anyone experienced this before? I want to take the car in, but I doubt the techs will find anything. I am starting to hate this transmission from its horrible 1-2 shift quality to these issues.
Thanks.

same issue, are you lowered? I recently installed Coil Overs and once I dropped it I realized it. I was thinking it was something to do with the alignment being out now or the axles maybe because of the new angle...I plan on taking it to the dealership if a needed alignment doesn't correct the issue
it's probably VSA holding back the power because the computer is seeing wheelspin. Better tires plus turning off the VSA might help.
Also I know from 2006-2008 the TL had the ECU changed to limit torque in the first 2 gears to keep transmissions from failing faster. It might be the same with the 4G TL. I've never really noticed a vibration but I have felt the "grabbing" feeling you describe.
I have the Michelin MX4M's on my TL and they certainly aren't a performance tire.
