2012 TL 3.5l Engine Starting Characteristics

When I start my TL, it feels like the engine is bolted directly to the uni-body. When it first fires and comes to life, the car shakes for a half of a second with a noticeable jolt. It does it every time and is a little more pronounced when the car has sat unused for a few days. Is this considered normal? Is this a result of stiffer (sportier I guess) engine mounts?

The TL currently has 37K on it.

My wife's Odyssey is smooth as butter at start (same/similar engine).

My '13 TL with 11K miles feels the same and wife's Pilot w/ 130K miles is smooth.

Our '11 Odyssey with 46,000 mi and our 2009 TL w/ 230,000 mi - startup is pretty much the same, however when driving the Odyssey it has noticeably less "get up and go"

My 2013 TL Tech has 12k miles and starts smoothly. No jolt or shaking. Has your TL always started like this?

Since I've had it, yes. Bought it a year ago with 24K on it.

It's not a shaking...just a jolt through the car right when the engine fires and comes to life. Maybe it's normal. Just wondered since it seemed odd to me.

That's how my '14 feels (3.7). I think I have about 11.5k on it. It's done that since I bought it - I bought it with around 5k miles on it. Very different from my Toyota V8, that's for sure.

It's a very noisy motor, as well. But, who's paying attention, when the motor's as smooth as a sewing machine.

It could also be your engine mounts being broken Have you inspected them?
