2010 TL-S Starting issue
2010 TL-S Starting issue
Hey all,
Thanks in advance for any guidance on this issue.
I have a 2010 Acura TL-S, and recently I've been having some issues starting the car.
Basically it happens like this.
I open the door, dome lights come on, stages on the key turn show dashboard lights, attempt to start and get a few clicks (maybe four). Following that all preceding attempts fail with a strange side effect. All power goes out, no dome light, no remote locks, ect ect.
I open the hood, verify the terminals on the battery are snug and firmly connected, get back in the car and the car starts just fine.. This issue started about 3 days ago, normally I'd look to the starter if it wasn't for the strange power issue. It's a brand new (like three days old) battery, so I'm stumped. Any ideas are appreciated.

Is the battery fully charged? I know you said it was new but I would guess a new battery could still be slightly discharged and from what I've read strange things happen with low charge. If that's the case might look to see if the alternator is charging it. If you turn the headlights on when you get in the car are they dim?
If the battery is fully charged man I don't know.. Since you said it started when you checked the connections on the battery, maybe trace those lines to where they connect to the car to make sure they have a solid connection, starter/ ground to car etc.

I agree with bringing the battery back, new from a store doesn't always mean it is fresh, sometimes they sit on the shelves for months. We recently had a BMW towed in that the customer replaced the battery with a brand new battery FROM THE DEALER... and still had a no-start, thought it was the starter.
The "new" battery wasn't very new.
