I don't know how lomng this has been going on, but I decided to check my TL after my MDX starting burning oil. Both are at about 60-80,000 miles. My TL is now consuming oil rapidly. Down 1-2 quarts every 1,000 miles. There are no leaks, nor does it seem to be "burning" the oil, i.e. blue smoke. The oil is just being consumed somewhere.

Any thoughts? My dealer charges an arm/leg here in NYC area.

Go to your local acura dealership and they will perform oil consumption tests. If the consumption is more than 1 quart per 1k Miles acura has been replacing engines.

 

Thanks. The TL is at 82,000 miles. I think the powertrain warranty is 70,000. Am I screwed in that case?

 

You may be screwed but the best thing to do is bring it to Acura and talk to them. If you've been a good customer and want a resolution vs yelling at the dealership and demanding stuff, they'll probably end up giving you a goodwill replacement. Schedule an appointment with your regular dealer.
