Did I read this right? Acurakid_slc, you were able to get the engine replaced, and you're still having oil consumption issues? Plus unknown engine noises?

Anything come out of the meeting?

^^^^^

If the excessive oil consumption is a engine design flaw, then neither "a new engine with existing components" nor "rebuilt internals with the same parts", is gonna fix this oil burning problem, unless the repair includes updated revision components.

I noticed that the new NSX motor uses what sounds like the same cylinder bore technology as the 3.7 motor.

I may be adding oil to a new short block and I get that.

The car is home again, and not just with the new short block, but with a new clutch as well. My service manager called on Tuesday and said the clutch is pretty much done. Hot spots all over the place on the discs. So the clutch is new as well. Yes, it is a "wear" item, but was able to work with the dealer so that Acura covered 68% of the cost of parts and I paid 32%. No labor cost as they already had it torn apart for the new short block.

Drove it home last night and it is very evident that it has a new clutch.
Will monitor the oil consumption weekly now.

I am in Nebraska and my dealer and service manager could not have been better throughout this process. They were truly my advocate with Corporate. I can't say enough good things about my dealer and service manager.

There are good dealers out there that care about the Acura owner and his/her car. I'm lucky. I have one of the good ones.

I love this car. For a moment on Tuesday when I got the news about the clutch, I thought about selling/trading. Driving home, I was reminded why that's not going to happen.

I do agree with others in that it seems Acura did not consider all the ramifications of the J37A4, 6MT, SHAWD combination. Yet it is that combination that makes this a unique car for the driving enthusiast.

And................it's back in the shop. Check AWD 77 code and P0171 & P0174 check emissions codes all this morning at the same time.

The loaner is a 2016 TLX, 290 HP, with less than 100 miles on it. I like it much better than the 2015 loaner I had I KC last year.

How many miles on the original clutch ? Im right at 60K on mine and it seems to be holding well, no slippage when shifting during steep ascents.

Pinched valve gasket. Got it back tonight. My service manager likes driving the car. He put 90 miles on it between last night and this morning. I told him when this all started I wanted it done right so drive it thoroughly once you're ready. Pulled the trigger a bit early Friday, but this time he got it right.

The Acura folks here in Omaha treated me like the long-time Honda owner that I am. Very customer-focused in my experience.

The 2016 TLX is a wonderful machine and I enjoyed it for 4 days....but when I entered the on ramp to I80 tonight, well let's just say I was very glad to have this engine, this transmission, and this AWD system at my disposal.

Will be checking oil every weekend.
