2010 TL 3.5 L Thermostat preventive replacement?
2010 TL 3.5 L Thermostat preventive replacement?
I am going to replace coolant on my Acura TL 2010 3.5 L, 82k mi. First owner. No issues with thermostat or radiator hoses’ performance. When should I consider replacing the thermostat and the hoses? 4hanks.
I had my thermostat and upper/lower hoses replaced when I had the 105K service done. Many other things as well!
Couldn't hurt to replace when you change the coolant either instead of waiting.
105K is a good interval to replace original parts IMHO.
Good luck!

Wow, your 2010 only has 82K miles. That's about 6K miles/year. Yeah, the coolant should probably be changed. Have you had the timing belt replaced? If not, it is also 15 years old. There is a theoretical time limit on the life of a timing belt regardless of milage. I've heard as low as 7 years which is probably conservative. You are over twice that time if you've never had it changed. I would also change the timing belt, spark plugs, water pump, timing belt tensioner and idler pullys. Changing the water pump will help you get most of the old coolant out of the heads and block. Drain the radiator while you are doing all this and you will have mostly new coolant.
I have a 2012 TL with all the original hoses. As long as the hoses are soft and pliable with no bulges, I'll stick with them. I did change the thermostat out at the 210K miles timing belt change MNT interval. The old one was working and appeared fine (no corrosion). That was 3 years ago.

I should probably have included more information in my post. In 2019, when the TL was 9 years old and had 69k, I changed the timing belt, water pump, and alternator belt + coolant at the dealership. The tensioner, pulleys, and the spark plugs were inspected and didn’t need to be replaced.
Now, 6 years later, I thought I should replace the coolant again, even though the TL has only been driven 13k mi since the previous service.
This will be part of a more comprehensive diy maintenance service, which includes ATF 3x3 (previously done at 55k) and brake fluid replacement (done every 3 years).
thank you again,
Bahman
