105K service questions

Hello. Not sure what to do first. I have a 2010 Acura MDX with about 93K miles. The spark plugs were replaced at around 50K when I first bought the vehicle.

Timing belt was never done as far as I know.

Last week, I bought a 2010 Acura TL 6MT with 187K miles or so.

Not sure when the timing belt was replaced on the TL, I know it is pretty much due, but I was wondering if I should get it done on the MDX or TL first?

Since that 105K service is not cheap (I was quoted about $1000 CAD + tax to get it done) not sure which car to do first.

Maybe the TL since it has a lot of miles.

What do you guys think?

Assuming both have never been done then do the TL first for sure, based on milage.

Unless you can dig into the TL service records somehow to see if it was done before. That's a lot of miles for it to be original.

Thank you! I called a few shops and nobody is able to confirm whether it has been replaced recently. One shop said that the previous owner asked for a quote to get it done like 1 year ago.

Quick update.

I finally got that 105K service done at the Honda dealership

Timing belt, tensioner (because it was leaking they said) Spark plugs, Serpentine belt, Water pump.

Water pump was fine they said but I decided to get it done anyways. Cost me an arm and a leg considering this is a high mileage car.

should be 6-8 hrs labor and about $300-400 in parts depending on where you get them. Most folks like AISIN timing belt kit, NGK spark plugs and accessory belt + tensioner from rockauto. Also worth it to do valve cover gaskets at the same time, cam cover seals too.

So I have been noticing squeaking/rattling noise when we first start up the car. It goes away when the engine is warmed up. Done research on here and everybody is talking about the TB and tensioner but it was replaced at the Honda dealership last week. Maybe they missed something? Wasn't making that noise 2 weeks ago. I will have to call them back. Not too happy

sometimes it can be the alternator bearing or power steering pump bearing going out. I had both happen one after the other after my first 105K service that was held of until about 120K. P.S. starting squeaking and I rebuilt it with a new bearing and gates seal kit. A few days after that it was the alternator making the noise and it died a few days later while driving home from work.

Mechanic said it was worn bearings from the old tensioners in the PS pump and alternator. New tensioner must have put added stress on the bearings causing squealing when cold. My 105K was done in the summer and the squealing started in about Sept, finally resolved by Dec.

I just bought a 10 TL SH-AWD 6MT with 92k, hoping to pick it up tomorrow or Saturday. It needed a few items for it to pass the safety test and the dealer is repairing it. The timing belt has not been done on it yet. My brother is a mechanic and is willing to knock this out on a Saturday for me. Has anyone used the CONTINENTAL PP329LK2 Pro Series Plus Kit?

I see a lot are recommending the AISIN Kit. I am fine going with whatever has the best results since I don't want to replace the engine. Also, I know this is one preference but this youtube influencer claims only changing the seals if they are leaking. Keeping the factory seals installed, thoughts???
