I guess it is a deliberate move to separate the SH-AWD version from the FWD version?

The other exterior differences are that the SH-AWD version has:

1. 18" rims in gun metal - these look wonderful! The FWD version only has some undersized and unsightly 17" rims.

2. Quad exhaust vs. dual exhaust in the FWD version.

3. Rear spoiler.

If you are thinking about getting the new TL, go for it! I have had mine for just a week and I absolutely love it. It is so underrated!!! Oh, and go with the SH-AWD version to have some more fun!

I think the answer is that on AWD those are brake ducts on the front of the car.

It provides direct air to the back of the front brakes. helps with cooling when you stop alot. Also looks cool lol..
