Mayan Bronze Metallic or Crystal Black Pearl
I need your help. I have two Sh-AWD Techs on order, both are coming in next week. One is Crystal Black Pearl and the other is Mayan Bronze Metallic. I couldn't (still can't) decide on a color. Both will have umber interiors. If you have any pictures to help, or advice/opinions on the color combos it would be greatly appreciated because I have to make a decision next week.
Thanks for your help.

Here's some photos of the color combo you were looking into (black/umber):

Thanks for the pics. I like both colors in pictures, but I have to admit, I do love the sharp contrast of the chrome work and the headlights on the black. It makes the bold design seem purposeful. I love the metallic finish in the mayan, though. This is fun.

Wow, tough choice and I feel for you - I really do. In fact I faced the exact one myself.
Came down on the side of the CBP. MY reason was that the Mayan looked great when clean and well lit. In sunshine or under high contrast white lighting at night it just popped. I live just outside of Toronto and with snow, sand, salt, overcast skys, and "yellowish lighting at night - in those conditions the higher contrast CBP to me looked sharper and more distinct. To my eyes the Mayan Bronze tended to look duller or "muddied" in those common situations.
My opinion only and local conditions and individual mileage will vary.
Cheers

Wavehhogger,
I appreciate your sense of humor and your desire to not have the same car as every other TL owner. I think the Mayan Bronze is the only color besides black that offers the richness of contrast that I like in the design. And I also like that not everybody is going to be driving it around (only because they are hard to find) and like the rest of the car is rather polarizing .

Do they have the HPT 19's or stock 18's? I think most above are correct, you should go with the stunning crystal black pearl. That muddied mayan color or whatever you want to call it looks like poooo with glitter thrown in. Everyone should AVOID the Mayan Bronze and if you can, that weird umber interior as well!!!!!!! BLEH!

I know it's going to happen eventually, but who doesn't love the novelty of having something unique. Initially, my dealer told me it would be one of the least ordered colors, but now they say it's being talked about a lot. I've already discouraged them from ordering it. I know you'll love both colors so good luck deciding. And you didn't mention what wheels they were coming with, stock or 19's? I'm curious if my car will have a twin out in Kanas City. And maybe you will be driving it.. Look forward to hearing your decision as well as pics and your thoughts.

Strangely, despite many car purchases, this color decision was gut wrenching for me. So this evening, after staring inquisitively (I may as well have had a pair of glasses balanced between my lips and fingers) at both cars side by side, inside and outside, possibly for several hours, I decided that I had to go with the Crystal Black. As they were driving the Mayan Bronze Car away after I made my decision, I thought I was going to lose my mind because it too was so beautiful. I asked if I could have both. They said, "Of course...that'll be $86,000." But, as I was driving her home, during rush hour, on a treacherous, snow-covered highway, I knew I had made the right decision... for me (even though I knew I wasn't going to see a clean black car in my garage for weeks until the snow melts and evaporates away).
I will be sure to post some pictures once this snow goes away. Hopefully by next weekend. Merry Christmas to me!!!!!

Congrats! Seeing your love for black already I had a hunch. Don't you just hate it when you pick up a car in crappy weather. I can't remember when it wasn't raining or snowing when I picked one up. Mine is sitting outside covered in ice and snow, yuck! Can't wait to see it though. Happy 4-wheelin! (sweet, that's one less Mayan on the road) :devilgrin

Go with the black, there's nothing like a clean black car. I wash my car and keep it clean as possible and I've had people come to me and say wow your car shines and the black looks deep. once you go black you won't go back.
