DopeAcura's Progress thread

Whats up guys?! New to the board. Just wanted to share pics of my baby.
It's an 09 FWD Tech. I tinted it and got some 20 inch KMC Rockstar rims. Next will be the rotors and exhaust. What do you guys think.

Yay got the new rotors installed today with some ceramic pads. If I had to gauge it, the car stops about 20% better. And they look bad ass! Next paycheck I want to get some Brembo calipers I'm thinking black in color.

Ive never seen another TL with my wheels and I probably never will. I enjoy that. To each is own. People always comment on how good the contrast of the flat black with the gloss paint on the car looks. It turns heads.

Thanks for the pics, it's very clean!

I don't think I'm a fan of the black on black, but to each their own right? It's what I was actually considering. I've done it before, and man is it a PITA to keep the rims clean!

How does it ride with the 20s on it? Did you do the camber kit on all 4 corners to adjust the track properly ?

Thanks and yeah you are right about how difficult it is to keep the rims clean. I find myself wiping them every time I get gas. They just attract dust. Besides that I love them.

I did do the camber kit and the ride is fantastic. Car stays very level around corners and it really feels like the tires have their entire surface on the road when I turn.
Also, I thought I would feel the bumps more but I don't. Its about the same as when the 17s were on there.

Ok so this morning the new lightweight pulley was installed. At the shop where I got it done they call it a "Harmonic balancer". I had never heard that term before. I freaking love it. I notice it a lot in first gear especially because it definitely gets from a stop up to 3000 rpms quicker.

Also when they handed me back the old one it shocked me how heavy it was.
Anyway, so far so good. No complaints. It only took an hour and they charged me 120 bucks.

uff you got murdered. I paid 50 and I felt like I got ripped off lol. They removed the front right wheel, unlocked the bolt and put the new one on, took a whole 25min. Anyway Pot I've had a lightweight pulley on for over 6 months (over 5K miles) now and haven't had any problems with it. Like the OP mentioned you get through the rev's faster; when I initially got it I would occasionally miss shift points.

does a lighter pulley really do much on the TL?

can you honestly feel it's faster? what about in 2nd or 3rd?

woudl it help much if you have an AT? or does it do more for a stick? I have an AT...and wondered if this would do much noticeable....

thanks.

I know my car is noticeably faster than a stock TL but I have every go fast performance mod available. Did this mod in particular make my car faster, I dunno, maybe? I also have a AT and get through all the gears much faster; overall it was a cheap mod and IMO gave better returns that equal cost SRI or much more expensive catback exhuast.

DopeAcura or HeartTLs

Do you remember what you paid for just the pulley? Not including labor? - Thanks.

Nice, any plans for a drop? I think that would tie things together a lot more, especially since the wheels look big! I also got the same slotted rotors from brakeperformance, with the black zinc coating.

Yup thats where I got mine. Paid the same price ($207). I've had it on a little over 2 weeks and no gear slipping problems.

Someone asked earlier how it felt over 4k rpms. The car has always been a beast in that range so its hard to tell any difference there. What I do notice is that it takes off from a stop a lot quicker and it gets much better gas mileage.

Trust me I do want to drop it but I'm reluctant because I'm scared it will make the ride rough and leave the back lower than the front.

I want a 1.5" drop in the front and a 1" drop in the back without a bumpier ride. Not sure If I can find this. If I read a testimonial that is sincere I will do it.
